The theme of this year's lest is Spir duality in Mush The headline even! is the world premiere of Ijfnny, composed by Arvo Part, an Kstomnn-hom contemporary composer who is such hot stuff that many bigwigs in the clas sical musir scene didn't ever think he would do a com missioned work in this coun try But here he Is in f.ugene Another respected classical music heavy, the University mush school's own Helmut Killing, who is also the festi val's art director, will conduct the orr hestral-chornl piece. Other big names include Kei th Jarret, keyboardist; the Bel la l.ewitskv Dan. e Company; and guitarist Jose Maria Gal lardo del Rey. For those who shy away from big concert hall extravaganzas, such as Vespers by Montovor di. Hitch's Mass in II Minor, and the Hrqiwim by Verdi, there's a number of smaller concerts, Milo performances, kids events and dance performances. For the intellectual music funs, there's a number of annual event programs that include lectures, discussions, and workshops. Check out the schedule and go to town.
