EMU Room 300 For quality typesetting - contact Oregon Daily Emerald I Racial conference starts today The fifth annual conference of the Willamette Valley Racial Minorities Consortium, which begins today in Salem at Chemeketa Community College, will focus on "The Emerging Minorities in Oregon " Featured speakers are Alfredo de los Santos, the vice chancellor of Maricopa County (Arizona) Community College District, Matthew Prophet, superintendent of Portland Public Schools and Beatrice Medicine, from the anthropology department, University of California at Northridge The conference begins this morning with several workshops and panels on business, poli tics, education and community service Prophet will speak at 8 p m and a dance, sponsored by the Mujeres de Oregon, will follow Saturday's events have been dedicated to a student emphasis.
