Mike Shoup coasted through the first five innings and picked up his first victory of the season against no defeats. Reliever Randy Lanning came on to mop up for Shoup in the sixth. By then the Ducks had a big lead, thanks to a key bases-loaded double by Don Reynolds in the fourth inning. Eugene rallied for four runs in the frame to tuck the game away.
