Altar Society Dinner Sunday St. Joseph's Altar Society is sponsoring its annual bazaar and turkey dinner, Sunday, Nov. 17, at St. Joseph's School Teresa Cherry Has Gay Party Teresa Cherry gave an enjoy able Halloween party Thursday at her home in Oakland when she entertained a group for games and refreshments. A fancy works booth will have a large selec tion of Christmas decorations, gift ideas and handwork. The country store will display inter esting items as well as local products. A yearly favorite is the post office booth dclivcrying well wrapped packages of fun for everyone. There will be several prizes including a lovely hooked rug a large doll and wardrobe, and an Irish linen tablecloth and 12 napkins that Father Buckley brought home from his trip to Ireland this past summer. L. lj'iniels of Canyonville, to Charles' Edward Bretz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bretz, Mea dow Vista, Calif. The ceremony was held at the Assembly of God Church, Canyonville, with Elder Paul Gordon of College Place, Wash., officiating. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore an import ed lace sheath with a chapel train falling from a bow at the back. Her short veil was fas tened to a pearl trimmed coro net and her bouquet was of vthite orchids and stephanotis. Traditional wedding music was played by the organist, Mrs. Paul Gordon. During the ceremony. Dr. Duane Fletcher of Roseburg sang "Whither Thou Gocst" and "A Wedding Prayer." Carol Bennett of Portland was maid of honor, and Ear lene Parmcle of Pendleton and Susan Landis of Ocean Lake were bridesmaids. All wore moss green satin sheaths with matching slippers and tiny matching net trimmed satin hats. Miss Bennett carried gold snider chrysanthemums and the other bridesmaids carried yel low and bronze chrysanthe mums carrying out the green, gold and white color scheme. Paulette Daniels, a sisier oi the bride, and Sharon Brown of KcMinnville were candlclight ers, dressed in bouffant gold satin gowns with maicning rosebud headbands. Anita Dan iels, a cousin, of Eugene, was the flower girl. Dressed as a miniature bride in white, she was attended by Jeff Daniels, the Bible boy. Bill MacPhcrson of Portland was best man, with Ron Roder- ich and Jack MacPherson of Portland, Leslie Johnson and Bill Wallman of Milo Academy, as ushers. Mrs. Harry Davis was wedding director. A reception at the Scventh dav Adventist Auditorium in Canyonville followed the cere mony. Parents of both bride and bridegroom joined the wed ding party in the receiving line Mrs. Daniels wore a mocha brown brocade sheath with beige accessories and Mrs Bretz wore an English blue en semble with black accessories. Both wore yellow carnation cor sages.. Mrs. Earl Parmelc of Pendle ton, an aunt of the bride, was hostess at the reception, assist eri by Mrs. Bonnie Stevens of Tulelakc, Sharon Falk and Beverly Fox. Cindy Falk was in charge of the guest book, and Mrs. Dot Loreiitzen of Port land, the gift table. The four - tiered yellow and white wedding cake had been baked and decorated by Mrs Dick Long of Days Creek, who also baked a matching cake shaped like double hearts. Can dies in goblets tied with old Kold ribbon flanked the cakes. The table was covered with an I heirloom tablecloth belonging to the bride's grandmother. Wed ding bells decorated with yel 'low and white streamers, and bowls of yellow and green punch completed the color scheme. The bride was graduated from Milo Academy in 1962 and attended La Sierra College in California last year. The bride groom was graduated from Milo in I960 and was discharg ed from the U. S. Navy at the completion of his service early last summer. Following a brief wedding trip to the coast, the ncwlyweds will make their home in Portland where both arc employed. A great many guests were from out of town. Relatives of the bride included Ralph Dan icls, her grandfather, Ocean Lake; Vernon Daniels, New port; James Daniels, Eugene; the Bonnie Stevens family, Tu lclake; Mrs. Jack Easlcy, Pen dleton; Mrs. Elry Stevens, Til lamook; the Jerry Stevens fam ily, Dundee; the Clay Brown family, McMinnvillc, and Dan Johnson, Pendleton. Geddes, left, commander of the Air Reserve Records Center, presented the award. Looking on are Mrs. Hilgenberg, the former Dorothy Dale Jackson of Roseburg, and the Hilgen berg's daughter, Jeanne. Commendation Medal Given Lt. Colonel James F. Hilgen berg was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal at retirement ceremonies at the Air Reserve Records Center, Denver, Colo., Oct. 31. He was cited for "exceptional service in planning for and effecting a smooth transition to a compu terized electronic data system; for Reserve personnel. Colonel Hilgenberg is a veter an of more than 22 years mili tary service. He entered the Army in 1941, prior to Pearl Harbor, and was assigned to the Army Air Corps. In Decem ber 1942 he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. During his! military career he served at several bases in the United States, in Adak, Alaska, and vlth the Allied Air Forces in Central Europe. Among his other awards arc the American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, National Defense Serv ice Medal, World War II Vic tory Medal, Air Force Longev ity Service Award with four! Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Hour Glass Device.. Colonel Hilgenberg is married to tile former Dorothy Jackson, Olalla-Tenmile HEU Has Meet Mrs. A. F. Young was host ess to the Olalla-Tenmile Home Extension Unit Tuesday at her home in Tenmile with Mrs. Al bert Young II as co-hostess. The hostess served an entire meal from her freezer explain ing how she prepared the food before placing it in the oven to heat for serving. The next meeting will be at the Ladies Clubhouse Nov. 19 at 10 a.m. when the programj will be "Let's Get Some Facts' About Funerals." Present were Mrs. Ralph Dwight, Mrs. Ray Oliver, Mrs. C. W. Wilson, Mrs. Shirley Guhlke, Mrs. William Stoffal, Mrs. Otto Weinhold, Mrs. Lloyd Thomas, Mrs. Roy Jones, Mrs. Walter Coats, Mrs. Albert Young II and Mrs. A. F. Young. whose parents are lifelong resi dents of Roseburg. Mrs. Hilgen berg's father is Douglas Coun ty Judge V. T. Jackson. Her brother is Elton Jackson of Win chester. Colonel Hilgenberg and Doro thy have two children, James F. Jr., and Jeanne. All have visited in the Roseburg area many times. They spent sever al weeks here last summer. Playing were Randy Wing, Kim Wing, Alan King, Sandra Wallis, itoma Wallia, Barbara Tilche, Sandra Thomason, Carla Ireland, Ricky Stratton, Sherry Levy, Gem Marie Moore and Tinuny Sue Moore.
