Mr. and Mrs. John Morrison of Roseburg visited the world's larg est collection of totem poles this week as narL of their tour of Alas ka's "First City." The "First City" title comes from Ketchikan's ; location as the first port of call i for the steamship travelers to take I the 4!)lh state and for travelers i aboard the new Alaska Ferry Sys tem vessels and for many airborne visitors as well. Other points of in terest besides the totem pole parks include Alaska's first and largest pulp mill, a number of canneries ; and fish hatchery. The latter is lo cated in the town park. The fish provide Ketchikan with still anoth er title, "Salmon Capital of the World." Two salmon derbies, one-season-long and the other limited to two weekends awarded thous ands of dollars in prizes annually. , -Next stop for the Morrisons will be Prince Rupert, B.C. They ex- ; pect to return home about Aug. 12. They went North by pickup camp er along the scenic Caribou High way through British Columbia and plan to return the same way. tak ing their car on the new Alaska Slate Marine Highway ferries.
