Mill Jan Wharton, who resides at Willamette Manor, Portland, has arrived here to visit relatives and to enjoy some time at her sum mer place on the North Umpqua River. Mist Gladys H. Strong, repre senting Chapter BI, FECI Sister hood, has returned to her home here, following a trip to Portland to attend the PEO Sisterhood con vention held from Sunday through Wednesday. Miss Strong is presi dent of Chapter BI. . Mrs. Edgar Lowls has returned to her home here, following a to day buying trip in New York City. Dr. and Mrs. Warran Gardner of Cleveland, Ohio, have arrived in Roscburg for a visit with the lat ter' father, E. W. Chase. Mrs. Gardner is the former Dorothy Chase of this city. Luis Castillo, who has been an exchange student here, left today for his home in Chile, S.A. Miss Sally Myers, who was grad uated this month from Oregon State University, is spending the summer here living with her grand mother, Mrs. Nelson B. lliggs. While here she is working for Southern Oregon Log Scaling. Miss Myers spent the last few weeks in Pittsburgh, Pa., visiting her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce (Diane Myers) Michels, and small son, David. She will teach this fall in Thurston Junior High School in Springfield, Ore. Mrs. Leonard Yocham of Van Nuys, Calif., has returned to her home after a stay in this city, having been called by the death of her brother, Ralph Gilbert. Funer al services for Mr. Gilbert were held here last Monday. Other rela tives who came for the funeral and who have now returned to their homes include Gilbert's brother, Corliss R., of Shawnee, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Dolan Mcfford, brother and sister-in-law of Mrs. Gilbert, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McCracken and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dowd, all of Oroville, Calif.; and Mrs. Eddie Hoen of Yahats, niece of Ralph Gilbert. Arthur Clarke, on SE Kane St. Mist Daphne Hughet, executive youth secretary for the Episcopal Diocese, Newark, N.J., is hee va cationing and visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Washington Hughes, on SE Kane St. Mist Tamara Jones, who has spent the last month living with the Paul Geddes family on SE Lane Ave., left this week for Eu gene, where she boarded a plane for New York to spend the summer with her maternal aunt, Mrs. John Duffy. Mrs Geddes took her to Eu gene. Mr. and Mrs. George Neuner, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Ellison, of Koseburg, and the Ellisons' daugh ter, Mrs. Duane Brady, of Co quille, went to Eugene Saturday to attend the wedding of Lt. Roger Johnson and Ruth Ann Bartle. Lt. Johnson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Johnson of Portland. Mrs. Johnson is the former Doro thy Marstcrs, daughter of the late Judge and Mrs. R. W. Marsters of Roseburg. Mrs. Willis Smith has returned to her home on Munson Court, after flying to Los Angeles to spend three weeks visiting her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Gladwill, and to attend the wedding of her granddaughter, LaVelle Gladwill. While in the area Mrs. Smith visited her brother-in-law, J. W. Smith, formerly of Rose burg, and now of Whitticr; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Macon Smith Richardson of Santa Ana, also for merly of this city, and her brother, C. B. Northcutl, of San Pedro, who is a retired Naval officer. Mrs. Smith enjoyed some of the Cali fornia tourist attractions including Mission Capistrano, Knox Berry Farm, Disneyland, Cinerama, Los Angeles Arboratum, Movicland Wax Museum. She returned home by plane. Mrs. Edward Dein, the former Sally Clarke, and children, Mary Jane and John Thomas, of San Francisco, are in Roscburg visit ing her mother, Mrs. Arthur Clark. Joining them here today for the weekend will be Mrs. Clarke s son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Clarke, of Portland. Mr. and Mrs. William R. Hirt have returned to their home here after spending three weeks in Or inda, Calif., at the home of their son and daughtcr-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin 1 1 lit, and family. They also visited their son-in-law and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. R. E. Mist Nancy Stewart, who was graduated from Willamette Univer sity in Salem this month, will teach at Twenty Nine Palms, Calif, this fall. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Stewart of this city. Mrs. John Young and Miss Helen Casey spent Thursday in Eugene on business. Mrt. Don Auer of Myrtle Creek and Nancy Clare of Glendale plan to leave Sunday for Portland to attend the Dairy Princess judging. Miss Clare is Douglas County can didate. The two will stay at the Sheraton Hotel. The Oregon Dairy Princess will be chosen on the basis of poise, personality and the knowledge of the dairy business. Mist Mary Ellen Boa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Boe of this city, left by Pan American World Airways jet out of Portland today for Honolulu, where she will spend six weeks attending summer sessions at University of Hawaii and enjoying a vacation. She will stay at the Hawaiian Prince on Waikiki. while in Honolulu. Miss Boe spent the last year teaching in Portland. Mrt. A. J. Ellison of this city picked up her daughter, Mrs. Du ane Brady, of Coquille, in Eugene Sunday and the two went into Port land to attend the PEO Sisterhood convention held through Wednesday at Lewis and Clark College. Mrs. Brady is president of Chapter CC in coquille. Upon their return, Mrs. Brady stopped in Eugene to be with her husband, who is attending summer sessions at University of uregon and Mrs. Ellison returned to Roseburg.
