San Francisco and Philadelphia pjayed a 7-7, 15-inning tie called by curfew in the longest (5 hours, 11 minutes) night game in major league history. Milwaukee ripped St. Louis 8-3. Tw Singlts Allowed Duren (3-8) allowed only two singles through the first eight in nings as he faced the Yankees for the first time since the May 8 trade. Then, pressing and tiring, he gave up his fourth walk, to Roger Maris, leading off the ninth, and Mickey Mantle followed with his 24th home run. Jim Don ohue mopped up in relief, retiring Yogi Berra, Bill Skowron and Johnny Blanchard in order. Berra singled in the fourth inning for bis 2.000th major league hit. Bob Turley (3-5) was the loser. The Tigers collected 16 hits and banded the White Sox their sec ond defeat in 21 games with a seven-run seventh inning. Don Mossi (9-1) gave up 15 hits, but went all the way for the victory. Ray . Entries Received For Rogue Meet L Rogue Valley Country Club's 33rd annual Southern Oregon Golf championships are still more than one month away, but 40 entries al ready are on file for Oregon's big gest amateur links event, in Med io id. The tourney will be Aug. 30, through Sept. 4, Labor Day, over the Medfoid links. Rivalry will be in men's, senior men's and women's divisions. This year the field is limited to the first 420 entries. Other entries will be on stand by. Aug. 23 is closing date for filing. All play this year definitely will he on the Rogue Valley links. A new nine holes, expanding the lay out to 27 greens, will be in use. Early entries include those of Lynn Creason, Las Vegas, Nev., and Linda Anderson, Olympia, Wash. Big Game Regulations Now Available In State Oregon big game hunters are ad vised by the Game Commission that the big game regulations are now available at all license agencies throughout the state. The regulation synopses are sim ilar to those provided hunters last i vear. listing all the big game sea sons, tag and permit requirements, and other rules pertaining to the 1961 hunts. Hunters will also find a state map showing the big game management! units, below which will be found ', accurate boundary descriptions. A section is devoted to license and lagging regulations along with a brief section covering arms and ammunition. (AP) Baltusrol is a big, mean old golf course, but the girls starting to day in the ninth U.S. Women's Open Golf Tournament just love it.
