Blakely, who were married in Roseburg 50 years ago, was a large and charming event of May 21 at their Glida Home. Lett to right in the family group are Robert P. Blakely, R. T. Blakely, Mrs. R. T. (Picture by Koop's Modern Photography). friends attended the golden wed ding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. R, T. Blakely, Sunday, May 21, from 2 to S p.m. at their Glide home. The occasion was also the 86th birthday of R. T. Blakely, who is the son of Samual Plum Blakely, the first white settler in the Glide area, who arrived in 1852 by cov ered wagon from New York state. The charming affair was hosted by the couple's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Blakely of Glide; their sons-in-law and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Fearn (Agnes) Moore of Glide and Alt. and Mrs. Ernest (Margaret) Prowell of Roseburg. The rooms were attractively dec orated in the golden wedding theme with bowls of yellow roses and yellow iris. Mrs. Blakely, wore a beige summer frock with a gold en orchid corsage as she happily greeted her guests. The beautifully decoraled serv ing table was covered with a love ly rose filet hand-crocheted table cloth made by Fearn Moore, who is confined to a wheel chair. Church Women Hostesses At Party For Miss Patton A lovely bridal shower was given recently in honor of Miss Patricia Patton at the home of Mrs. Clifford Travillion by women of the Con servative Baptist Church. Mrs. Florence Moore and Mrs. George Casebeer. Mrs, Lil lian Van Horn served at the punch bowl and Mrs. George Rich ey, Mrs. R. P. Blakely and Mrs. Frank Hayes presided at the cof fee service. A rose covered wishing - well received money gifts and many cards. Jane Prowell, Marilyn Blakely and Rob Blakely, grand daughters and grandson, were in charge of the well and the gift table. Assisting about the rooms were Mrs. M. J. McDaniel, Mrs. Bob Ridgeway and Miss Bernice McDaniel. The Blakelys were married at the Christian Church in Roseburg C. G. Blakely, a nephew who was present at the wedding 50 years ago, attended the anniversary re ception. Present were four generations Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Blakely. Mrs. Fearn Moore, Mrs. Frank Hayes, and Kathy Hayes. Of special interest was a cable gram of congratulations from the Dave White family in Germany (Mr. White is teaching there).
