A picnic dinner was enjoyed at 12:30 in the rumpus room. The business meeting followed and sew ing and visiting completed an en joyable afternoon. Those enjoying the afternoon with Jlrs. Deal were: Mrs. C. J. Brad Icy, Mrs. F. I. Belts, Mrs. Austin Spencer, Mrs. Clarence Miller, Mrs. Alfred Ncal, Mrs. J. G. Stephen son, Mrs. Henry Snyder, Mrs. Ar gie Beels, Mrs. Carlos Pago, Mrs. Jess Bowman, Mrs. Myrtle Ken nedy, Mrs. George Cluck and Mrs. lc Merchant, a guest of the after noon. The next meeting will be Oct. 2 at the Carlos Page home with Mrs. Myrtle Kennedy as hostess. At this meeting there will be a food auc tion sale with Mrs. Ncal as auc tioneer. HAINES HOME SCENE OF CHARMING POTLUCK Mr. and Mrs. Lawrance Haines entertained a a potluck dinner Sat urday evening at their home near Umpqua. The rooms were beauti fully decorated with large bowls of autumn llowers. l'larcs wero set for Mr. and Mrs, Alva Manning, Mr. and Mrs. John liacon, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schosso, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ba con and daughter, Judy, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hand. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lamoreaux, Mr. and Mrs. Her man Thcile of Dixonvilla and the host and hostess. After dinner five hundred was enjoyed. High scores were held by Mrs. Vera Bacon and Herman Schosso and low by Alva Manning and Mrs. Lamoreaux. Sweeps priz es were won by Mrs. Doris Bacon and Mr. Alfred Hand. Refresh ments were served at a late hour. ALPHA CHI ENTERTAINED AT DON STARMER HOME Alpha Chi Chapter, Epsilon Sig ma Alpha, met J'liursouy evening at the home of Mrs. Donald Stnrm er, Winchester Avenue, with presi dent Mrs. Loon Hughes in charge. Several items of business were discussed. Mrs. Floyd Walker, Mrs. John Jones and Mrs. Jack Fread will have the educational program at the next meeting. The theme will be "Geraniums." After the meeting, card games were enjoyed, followed by refresh ments served by tho hostess to Mrs. Floyd Walker, Mrs. Dick Gad wav, Mrs. John Wilton, Mrs. Joe Scallon. Mrs. John Jones, Mrs. Kel say Hobday, Mrs. Bill Hallcraft, Mrs. Don Caskey, Mrs. Allan Mc Lennan, Mrs. Earl Oderkirk, Mrs. Ken Harrison, Mrs. Leon Hughes and Mrs. Lyle ()uist. Friends were invited to a backyard wie ner roast. Guests arrived after school to play gjines on the spa cious lawn. Those attending besides Carley and her parents were Carol Col burn. Ixiis Rockwell, Ralene Young, Caryl Sessions, Jo Anne Wesley, Beth Orjella, Carol Dunn, Karen Tkpton, Kalhie Carrigg and her brothers and sisters, George, Mike, and Peter and Helen and Anita Hottman and Dnnnie. Gifts were opened and the birthday cake was enjoyed with ice cream. WOODRUFFS HOSTS AT PICNIC ON SUNDAY Mr. and Mrs. V. S. Woodruff, who are spending the fire season months at the checking station on Callahan Trail at Melrose, enter tained at a picnic Sunday at the station. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Bob Tjomsland, Bobby, Mike and Sherrie: Mr. and Mrs. otto Mat thews, Mrs. Effie Peters, Mrs. Myr- iie j,unuccn and W. M. Morgan, all of Suthcrlin. Later in the after noon Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Merle and children of lioseburg joined tile group. Visiting was enjoyed following the lovely 12:30 o'clock dinner. FRIENDSHIP CLUB HAS MEETING AND LUNCHEON The Glendale Friendship Club held a regular meeting Tuesday evening at the Glendale IOOF Hall. One guest was present, Mrs. Cor rine Teslorff. Refresh ments were served by a committee composed of Mrs. Ella Blaser, Mrs. Irene Furlong. Mrs. Judy La 1'rath and Mrs. Thelma Clark.
