The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Lavon Sanders of this city and the bridegroom is the son of Marion LeRoy Henry Sr. of Paso Robles, Calif., and Mrs. John Patton of Roseburg. The Rev. Virgil Savage of The wedding of Barbara Ann Sanders, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Lavon Sanders of this city, and Marion LeRoy Henry, son of Mar ion LeRoy Henry Sr. of Paso Ro bles, Calif., and Mrs. John Patton of Roseburg, took place' Sunday, Oct. 7, at the Conservative Baptist Church. One hundred and fifty guests were present at the 3 p.m. ceremony. The Rev. Hafry Hovee. pastor of the Mt. View Baptist unurcn in corvams, and trie Kcv. Virgil Savage officiated. The church was decorated with baskets of yellow and white chry santhemums and yellow candles, in candelabra. Piano music was play ed by Miss Gayle Geddes. Vocal ORDER OF AMARANTH HOLDS GRAND OFFICER RECEPTION A reception of Douglas Court grand officers was held Friday night, at the Masonic Temple by Douglas Court 18, Order of t h e Amaranth, with Mrs. Elmer L. Anderson, royal matron, and Hen ry Halvorscn, royal patron, presid ing. The grand court officers were extolled and presented with gifts individually as follows: Mrs. Roy Anlauf, grand representative to Massachusetts, by Mrs. . L o r a n O'Neal, Charity pro tern; Mrs. Hugh E. McDonald, assistant grand lecturer, by Carmen Clark, Wisdom pro tern; Thomas Scott, grand trustee, by Mary Jane Han sen, Truth; and Walter Dage, grand representative to Kentucky, by Mrs. Harry Young, 'Faith pro tern. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schink, as sociate patron and matron of Pal estine Court, Portland, were visi tors at the court. At the close of the meeting, re freshments were served by a com mittee composed of Mrs. Wilbe'rt Miles, Dora May Chism. Esther Elliott and Vivian Coon. The grand officer theme was carried out in decorating the beautifully appoint ed tables. The next meeting will be held Oct. 19 at 6:30 p.m. and will be a potluck dinner. SAM PHILLIPS HONORED AT BIRTHDAY, DINNER Family members and friends gathered at the Sam Phillips home near Glendale Friday evening to join in a dinner celebrating Mr. Phillips' birthday. Those present, besides the Sam Phillips family were the Ed Jack son family, the Roy Bedfords and Bob Hale. The guest of honor received a number of gifts, and a cake, in scribed. Maid of honor was Miss Zeta Sanders, the bride's sister, and bridesmaids were Miss Katherine Hosier of Corvallis and Mrs. Bill Jennings. Miss Patty Patton, half sister of the bridegroom, was jun ior bridesmaid. All wore rose-colored princess style frocks and car ried yellow chrysanthemums. Flower girl was Miss Cynthia Sanders, sister of the bride, and train bearer was Mary INTER-SE STUDY CLUB HAS TUESDAY LUNCHEON Mrs. Paul Geddes was a charm ing hostess Tuesday to members of the Inter-Se Study Club at a luncheon party at her attractive home on Lane Street. Mrs. Arthur Judd, a new mem ber, was welcomed by the group. Mrs. E. E. Lindell had charge of the program which dealt with the life and works of the painter Rem brandt., Mrs. Lindell spoke very interestingly, using illustrations to highlight her talk. The hostess served luncheon at a table tastefully decorated in a decor of bamboo, autumn leaves and fall flowers in hues of yellow and orange. Attending were Mrs. Arthur Judd. Mrs. t,. . Linden. Both wore rosebud corsages. The bride's parents were host and hostess at the reception which followed . in the church parlors. Miss Bcrdine Morris, the bride groom's cousin, had charge of the guest book. Cutting and serving the wedding cake were Mrs. Rob ert Mosier and Mrs. J. H. Ehrct, grandmother of the bridegroom, from Atascadero, Calif. The bride groom's aunt, Mrs. Alfred Morris poured. The new Mrs. Henry chose a PATIO PICNIC AFFAIR OF FRIDAY EVENING A delightful party was held Fri day evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Christian when the latter entertained her Sunday School class at a picnic supper on the patio of their home. The young guests came directly from school to the Christian home where many games were played and prizes awarded. Guests for the 5:30 picnic were seated at two large tames, in- eluded were Linda Hanneman, Judy Warren, Tommy Hall, Bobby Cox, Karen and Billy Tipton, Katny Carrieg. Lvnette Conn. MOTHER OF GLENDALE WOMAN ENJOYS BIRTHDAY Mrs. William McGrath returned Sunday night from several days spent visiting with her mother, Mrs. M. B. Welch, who celebrated her 92nd birthday while she was there, and with her daughter, Phyl lis Louise, who teaches in one of the Portland schools. Mrs. Welch held open house on the occasion of her birthday, and many friends dropped in, including members of the Lavender Ladies Club, all of whom are over 70 years of age. The Lavender Ladies had also honored her with a birth day party at their meeting during the previous week. Six members of Mrs. Welch's family were able to be present. GENE MEACHAM HONORED AT GOING-AWAY PARTY A number of close neighbors and friends of Gene Meacham were in vited to the Meacham home Satur day evening. Pfc. Meacham has been home on an 18-day furlough, and left Monday for Arlington Hall Station. The evening was spent in visiting and playing games. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. John Sowlcs, Mrs. Grace Goins, KmirV and Leslie, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Booher and family. Mrs. Norman Suiter, Ronny Bedford, Mr. and Mr,. Murray, celebrated his sixth birthday at a most enjoyable party Thursday afternoon at his home in Westmoreland. Games were played and gifts were presented to Stephen from David Bean, Timmy Swick, Tom my Carey, Steven Kiss, Doug and Bruce Richmond and Eddie Ohman. Birthday cake and o'her refreshments were served by Mrs. Murray assisted by her two daugh ters, Theresa and Cathy. ROSEBURG CHAPTER, OES ENJOYS POTLUCK DINNER Roseburg Chapter 8, Order of Eastern Star, met last week with Myrtle Olmscheld, worthy matron, and Ralph cooper, worthy patron, presiding. A program was present ed by students of the Joy Powell Dance Studio. Nell Motschenbacher was chair man of a potluck dinner which pre ceded the meeting. She was assist ed by Mr. and Mrs. Hod Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Ellison, Mr. and Mrs. John William Robertson and Mary Marshall. Several out-of-town guest, were present. The tables were decorated with apricot and yellow dahlias. COSTUME PARTY IS AFFAIR OF FRIDAY A Halloween party, with mem bers coming in costume, highlight ed the meeting of the Glendale Nile Club which was held Friday night at the home of Mrs. Gordon Mehl, near Glendale. Costume prizes were awarded to Mrs. Mildred Cox, dressed as a witch, and to Mrs. Mary La Prath dressed a, an old man in a night shirt. Costumes featured space men, pirates, sailors, deep sea div ers and other amusing characters. The Mehl home was decorated in accordance with the Halloween theme. Mrs. Mary La Prath won a prize for drawing whiskers on a cat. Mrs. Mehland her assistant, Mrs. I n a Lee Densley, served doughnuts and coffee. Mrs. Hult took her guests on a tour of the lodge and the grounds, pointing out the numer ous handmade and exquisitely fin ished pieces of furniture and the remarkable stone work around the dwelling from where everyone en joyed a breath-taking view.
