Miss Hughes Honored At Party Thursday Night To compliment Miss Daphne Hughes of New York a delighuul parly was given Thursday evening by Mrs. L. W. Riley at her at tractive home on SE Stephens Street. Attractive bouquets ot' sum mer flowers wene used about the rooms. ' Visiting was enjoyed and later Mrs. Riley served lovely refresh ments to Miss Hughes, suest of honor, and Miss Helen Falbe, Miss Patricia Mayo, Mrs. Jack Myers, Mrs. Robert Kelly, Mrs. Frederick J. Porter and her niece, Miss Jeanne Knight, who is v.silii'g here from Portland: Miss Patricia Riley, Miss Helen Casey and Miss Naomi Scott. Mrs. Runyan Entertains For New York Visitor Mrs. John E. CLASS REUNION AFFAIR OF SUNDAY Seven members of the 1940 graduating class of Glide High School and their families gathered Sunday at Umpqua Park to enjoy a reunion potluck picnic. Only three out of the class of 10 were unable to be present at the reunion, the first since 1946. Absent were David Asam and Wanda Moore of California and Bob Reinhart of Medford. Present to enjoy the day were me Kev. Chester Morgan, minis- tor of the Methodist Church in Vancouver. Wash.; Harold and Marjorie (Morton) Miles and their daughter, from Beaverton; Carl and Hope (Miles) Starbuck and son of Myrtle Creek; Lawrence and Alice (Thompson) West and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Suiter and Eliner and Pauline (Suiter) Merle, all of Roseburg. Others attending who were not of the graduating class were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Vieselineyer and children ot Roseburg and LaVern Cannon of Glide. , Alumni president Lewis Suiter and secretary Alice West will make plans for the next reunion. PINK AND BLUE SHOWER GIVEN FOR MRS. Guests enjoyed playing several games with prizes awarded to the winners. WEDDING SHOWER HONORS PETER SABALAS Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sabala fnee Ardena Hague) who were married at Heno, June 28, were honored at a wedding shower recently eiven by Mrs. Helen Kesner, Mrs. Grace uatcner, Mrs. jsveiyn Foster and Mrs. Ralph Stciber. Pink sweet peas and roses with silver were the decorations and the gift table was laden with beautifully wrapped packages. Appropriate games were played and prizes awarded after which Mr. and Mrs. Sabala opened their many nice gifts. William's brother, John, who has changed his last name to Kascier, is a veteran screen actor and is now in tele-' vision with the Rodney Young Productions at Columbia Studios producing "Father Knows Best." Mrs. Josephine Flieder. sister of the two brothers, and Gus Carlson,, a friend of the family, both of Bremerton, joined them Tuesday. Mrs. George Young and daughter, Bonnie Jo, of Langley, Wash., and Mrs. Cecil Bell and daughter, Caro, Bremerton, also came down. Mrs. Young and Mrs. Bell are daughters of Mrs. Flieder. The rooms were attractively dec orated in green and white with bowls of lavender cosmos. The bride's gift table was centered with a large and colorful hope chest spilling over with gifts, while the traditional stork graced the cen ter of Mrs. Broadwater's gift-laden table. Mrs. Ann Strinscr led the group in playing several games for which prizes 'were awarded.
