New Paint 'Ups Value Of Houses
For many homeowner, "Opera
tion Home Improvement" will be
gin wittj a new paint job for the
bouse.
Outside, as well as Inside, fresh
new paint color can do much to
make the house look charming and
pleasant. Good painting can either
accent or minimize the architec
tural flaws or good points of a
bouse.
In general light colors make a
small house look larger. A house
that has lots of old-fashioned de
tail can take on a more modern
look by painting the trim and the
bouse all one color.
If doors, windows and shuters
are in good proportion to the
bouse, they make a pleasing pic
ture when painted with bright trim
colors.
When it comes to improving your
borne and increasing its value, it's
good to know that you can "up" its
market value at least 12 per cent
with a new coat of paint inside
and outside. That is the careful
estimate of real estate specialists.

lighting colors give you more
pleasure and increased pride in
your dwelling.

times for painting the outside.

below 40 degrees, the paint coating

is cracked and peeled. . . all the
roughness will have to be carefully
removed before the new coating
can be applied.

ucts of the best quality and prod
ucts that are especially devised for
the surfaces on which you use
them, froperly chosen and proper
ly applied, they will give you the
longest service, thus keeping your
cost of annual "paint insurance
at a minimum.

Colors Carefully;
Consider Room Size
Cool colors as blues and greens:
in carpeting, tend to flush walls
out and make a room seem larger.
Warm colors, such as reds and
yellows, tend to bring the walls
closer and make a room seem
cozier. Dark carpetings, such as
forest green and burgundy, show
lint and dust the most. Pale beige,
soft gold and antique white show
soil the most.
Middle value colors (medium
gray, green and cinnamon) and
the tone-on-tone and textured and
patterned carpetings show wear,
lint, dust and soil least.
