A FAMILY REUNION held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Smithee in Winston was an enioyable affair. Present from out of town for the occasion were Mr. and Mrs. Edward Randall and son, Stan, of Willow Creek, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Smithee and two sons, Allan and Dale, from Sacramento, Calif., and Sgt. and Mrs. Leo Smithee and daughter, Susan from Tinker AFB, Oklahoma , City. (Wilson Studio) Philip Kasers -Honored At Delightful Party Mr. and Mrs. Neil Kaser Jr. entertained at a charming party Saturday evening at their home at 459 W. Fair St., in compliment to Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kaser, who have just returned from Ger many and who were spending a few days 1 here visiting relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Kaser left Wednesday for their new home ONE OF THE LOVELIEST events of the spring season was held Saturday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allan McLennon of Lookingglass Road, Winston, when they en tertained in honor of their daughters, Patricia and Suzanne on their 13th and 12th birthdays respectively. The spacious party room at the McLennon home was the scene of two parties to which a large number of guests were invited. (Winston Studio).. Games were played and dancing enjoyed and after the many beau tiful gifts were opened delicious re freshments were served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. J. A. Wil ton and Mrs. Jim Everly. Sunday a group of Suzanne's friends join ed her and Patricia in a theater party. L. Powers Thursday evening at the attractive Powers home in Laurel; wood. Miss Wilson will become the bride today of Kenneth "Chic k" Monnier. Easter lilies and camellias form ed the lovely decorations for the occasion. Bride and bridegroom sil houettes decorated the ice cream. Mrs. Ellsworth Tilton served the bridal cake and Mrs. Leo Gillett poured the coffee. Besides the hostesses, those en joying the occasion honoring Miss Wilson were Mrs. Betty Rawson, Mrs. Albena Tison, Miss Gloria Jacobs, Mrs. Frank B. Woodworth, Mr. and Mrs. Snyder To Celebrate Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Snyder will observe their golden wedding anni versary Sunday, May 6, by holding open house at the Roseburg Wom an's Clubhouse from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Friends and relatives have been most cordially invited to call and are requested to not send gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Snyder, who were married in Roseburg 50 years ago, have lived in their home at 1421 SE Cobb St., since their wedding day Mr. Snyder is a retired South ern Pacific inspector. The Snyders have a daughter, Mrs. L. A. (Mar jorie) Mills, and a son, Don, both of this city. MNO CLUB MEETS AT RIVERSDALE HOME The Riversdale MNO Club met at the home of Mrs. Neil Ch.-ist;an Wednesday evening. During the brief business meeting the attend ance prize was awarded to Mrs. Darwin Lea. The pleasant evening hours were spent playing games after which Mrs. Christian served dainty refreshments to Mrs. Argus Fisher, Mrs. Floyd Squier, Mrs. H. W. Conn, Mrs. Jack Denton, Mrs. Allan Christie, Mrs. Kenneth Smith, Mrs. Don Harmon, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. L. W. Cottrell, Airs. F. A. Hollcy, Mrs. J. M. Burkhart, Mrs. Don Kruse and Mrs. Don Guiley. Archer entertained me University of Oregon Mothers Club at a lovely 7:30 o'clock dessert supper Monday evening at the former's attractive home. The highlight of the evening was the voting of $306 for scholarships. The final money making project of the year was the Chinese auc tion held during the social hour. New officers elected are Mrs. William Thompson. president; Mrs. C. A. Ricketts, vice presi dent Mrs. D. L. Taylor, secre tary, and Mrs. R. B. Barker, treasurer. JAMES FLYNN HOSTS FRIENDLY HOUR CLUB Springtime readings were pre sented at roll call at the recent meeting of the Melrose Friendly Hour Club which took place at the home of Mrs. James Flynn. A pot luck luncheon . was enjoyed at noon. Mrs. Hazel Bly was in charge of the program which consisted of contest games and pictures and a discription of a recent trip through Mexico by Mrs. Flynn. HOLLINGER IS COMPLIMENTED AT PARTY A surprise birthday party was given Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Glascoe in Wilbur honoring Mrs. Herschel Hollinger. The evening was spent playing cards, with prizes ' awarded the winners. The honored guest re ceived many lovely gifts. Warrenton Club Meets At Naas Home Tuesday The Warrenton Club met Tues day evening at the home of Flor ence JNaas. Following an enjoyable social hour, lovely refreshments were served. L. A. Keiths Announce Marriage Of Daughter Mr. and Mrs. Lewis A. Keith of Glengary announce the marriage of their eldest daughter, Alice, to George V. Arrant of Klamath Falls. The ceremony was perform ed in Sutherlin by Justice of the feace ward A. Watson Wednes day, April 11. Attendants for the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pack. The bride attended Glide High School and the bridegroom went to Klamath Falls schools The young people are presently making their home in Glengary. Mr. Arrant is employed at Ford's Mill. MEN HONORED BY CALAPOOIA WOMEN The Ladies of the Calapooia Women's Club, gave a dinner Sun day as a "thank you" to the men of the community who have help ed to build the new kitchen and restrooms on the clubhouse. Ruth Burdette, Norah Stephens, Hazel Haines and Frankie Moore were the committee in charge. Visiting and horseshoes were enjoyed in the afternoon. UMPOUA RESIDENTS ENJOY DINNER PARTY . An entertaining fea ture of the afternoon was the hat dressing contest conducted by the hostess, those taking prizes were Susan Bowman who won a prize for making the prettiest hat; Mrs, George Cluck winning for making the funniest. THRALLS HOST PINOCHLI CLUB SATURDAY NIGHT Mr. and Mrs. Curt Thrall were hosts to their pinochle club Satur day night at their home east of Canyonville. Mrs. Norman Hanson and Mrs. Lynn Jones tied for high score of the evening and Norman Hanson won high score for the men. Mrs. Daje Combs took consolation. Five tables of pinochle were in play and a potluck lunch was served at the conclusion ef the evening. Shaffer Honored On Birthday Tha 73rd birthday of the Rev. A. M. Shaffer, known as "Daddy" Shaffer to a long list of Canyon ville Bible Academy graduates and students, was celebrated uriday night at a dinner which included students of the school he rounded and members of the Shaffer fam ily and friends. The theme of the dinner was built around an accordion, music of which instrument is a favorite of the Rev. Shaffer's. Accordion ducts were played during the din ner hour by Cclia Webb and Charles Scgers. Programs were accordion-shaped and the birthday cake in the same theme was dec ollated by Mrs. William Howell of Tiller. C. E. Parker was master of ceremonies: Mary Allen of Dalles Tex., presented a "Tribute to Dad dy Shaffer" and the group gift was presented by Betty Parker, senior class president. Moore, Mrs. Ida Carl and Thomas Scott. After a delicious ham dinner the officers enjoyed songs by Frank Moore accompanied by Miss Vir ginia Young, followed by games of pinochle, canasta and bridge.
