(Picture by Chris of Photo Lab). Sunday evening a surprise fare well party was given Lt. and Mrs. Jack Stone at the home of the former' parents, Mr. and Mrs. Weldoa Stone, 2821 Parker Road. Visiting and picture taking as well as music were enjoyed during the evening. Bob Mathews piayed the musical numbers. A special inter est was the playing of the Edison phonograph belonging to the host ess, which had been in her family for 33 years. Following the enjoyable social hour, lovely refreshments were served to the guests of honor and Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Friend and children; Mr. and Airs. Harry Au- chaber and family; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stone and daughter, Shirley; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sigfridson and children; Bob Matihews and his mother, Edna Mathews, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ruchaber, Mrs. Charles Brennen, Dick Stone, Joe Pin ard, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Brennen and Mr- and Mrs- Weloon Stone. Mrs. Bert Corkrum Hostess To Bridge CIuJd At Luncheon Mrs. Bert Corkrum entertained her bridge club at a charming one o'clock luncheon Wednesday at the attractive home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Smith in Laureiwood. EAST DOUGLAS UNIT STUDIES FLOWER ARRANGING AT MEETING East Douglas Home Extension I'nit met at the Glide Grange Hall Wednesday with twenty-five ladies present for the all-day a'fair. Fol lowing a short business session, conducted by Mrs. Gene Mathis, in installation of officers was conducted by Mrs. Verne Shrum. New officers are chairman. Mrs. Adrain Standlcy; vice chairman, Mrs. William Melton; and secre tary, Mrs. Ray Ballou. Beautiful corsages, made by Mrs. Dean Wadsworth, were presented to the new officers, and also to Mrs. George Casebecr and Mrs. Don Wright, in recognition of their fine work in conducting the recently completed five-day woikshop on furniture minishing. Gifts were presented to retiring officer. Mrs. Maihis and Mrs. Mildred Webb. Mrs. Sam Ball and Mrs. Adrian Standley presented the demonstra tion on flower arrangement and introduced Mrs. James Evans, who showed a number of artistic arrangements and demonstrated the making of floral sprays and wreaths. Mrs. J. M. Boyles, retiring president, had charge of the meeting and the new-officers were installed bv Mrs. Kenneth Ford. Other new officers are Mrs. Har ry Hatfield, vice president; Mrs. Ella Lenox, secretary-treasurer. Mrs. Harold Beauohamp spoke on insecticides. Plans were made for the garden tour to be held Sunday, May 22. Plans were made for sew ing to be done for the ShrinB Hos pital for Crippled Children. The ladies are also assisting in the Shrine dance to be held May 27 in the VFW Hall on Garden Val ley. The meeting was conducted by the president, Mrs. Helen Essel-strom. Members attending were Mrs. Claude H Esselstrom, Mrs. Stan ley D. Esselstrom, Mrs. Harold A. Esseltrom, Mr. T. W. Petherick entertained Wednesday the Sutherlin Bridge Club at a one o'clock luncheon at home. Beautiful bouquets of spring flowers formed a pretty motif for the occasion.
