(jarden Jour-Jea undaij The first garden tour in Rose burg open. to the general public will be sponsored by the Garten Department of the Roseburg Wom an's Club Sunday, May 22. Men, women and children are invited. A small charge will be made, which entitles each persons attending to visit all six of the gardens and to the tea and musical Kcgram at the clubhouse. Between 1:30 and 3 p.m. the gar dens of the Kencth F-ird home, 1385 Madrone; Bruce Elliott home, 1314 Madrone; Nobel Goettel home, 954 Riverside Drive, and W. F. Chapman home, 1325 Riverside Drive, will be open. Those desiring to visit these gardens can go at any time they desire to between 1:30 and 3 p.m. The garden of Miss Rosa B. Par rott (Parrott Place) at :.he end of South Jackson Street, and the gar den of the Frederick J. Porter home, 555 Reservoir Avenue, will be open to the public between 3 and 5 p.m. Miss Parron s garden is Roseburg s largest private gar den. , The clubhouse will be open from 3 to 6 p.m. at which time Jack Donavon, pianist for KVAL radio station in Eugene, "and Harmony House win turnisn tne music. Mrs. E. G. Young, Mrs. Earl Flummer and Mrs. R. L Whipple will act as hostesses at the club house. Mrs. H. C. Berg will have charge of the tea tabic. Special arrangements are being made for decorations for the shadow boxes. Mrs. Earl Bleile and Mrs. Rob ert Burton are co-chairmen of the event. If this first tour proves successful, members of - the club plan to make it an annu. 1 event. Routine business was transacted and the election of new officers were as follows: Mrs. Bettc Gil man, president; Dolores Pohl, vice president; Donna Dean Hlakelcy, secretary; Mrs. Doris Kcnwisher, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Ma rion Young, treasurer; and Mrs. Janet Mullen, educational director. After the meeting, refreshments were served by Mrs. Pohl and Mrs. Bever.
