Sunday evening a surprise fare
well party was given Lt. and Mrs.
Jack Stone at the home of the
former' parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Weldoa Stone, 2821 Parker Road.
Visiting and picture taking as well
as music were enjoyed during the
evening. Bob Mathews piayed the
musical numbers. A special inter
est was the playing of the Edison
phonograph belonging to the host
ess, which had been in her family
for 33 years.
Following the enjoyable social
hour, lovely refreshments were
served to the guests of honor and

Wednesday with twenty-five ladies
present for the all-day a'fair. Fol
lowing a short business session,
conducted by Mrs. Gene Mathis,
in installation of officers was
conducted by Mrs. Verne Shrum.
New officers are chairman. Mrs.
Adrain Standlcy; vice chairman,
Mrs. William Melton; and secre
tary, Mrs. Ray Ballou. Beautiful
corsages, made by Mrs. Dean
Wadsworth, were presented to the
new officers, and also to Mrs.
George Casebecr and Mrs. Don
Wright, in recognition of their fine
work in conducting the recently
completed five-day woikshop on
furniture minishing. Gifts were
presented to retiring officer. Mrs.
Maihis and Mrs. Mildred Webb.
Mrs. Sam Ball and Mrs. Adrian
Standley presented the demonstra
tion on flower arrangement and
introduced Mrs. James Evans,
who showed a number of artistic
arrangements and demonstrated
the making of floral sprays and

The. Ladies' Oriental Shrine of
North America met Monday at the
home of Mrs. W, L. Carr in Hu
crest. Plans were made for sew
ing to be done for the ShrinB Hos
pital for Crippled Children. The
ladies are also assisting in the
Shrine dance to be held May 27
in the VFW Hall on Garden Val
ley. The meeting was conducted
by the president, Mrs. Helen Essel-strom.
