They presented her a lovely gift and sang a song for her. Aurcilla McGchey also went with the girls. There Were 32 members and four visitors present. Mrs. Howard Brusseau gae a report on the recent baked foods sale given by the bowling team of the Women of the Moose. Next meeting, Nov. 22, 1 silent auction will be held. GARDEN VALLEY WOMEN PLAN PENNY SUPPER Garden Valley Women's Club met at the clubhouse this past week with Chloe Ritchie and Mil dred Knapp as hostesses. Lovely bouquets of chrysanthemums wera placed about the room. Plans were made for a penny supper to be held in January. A novel feature was the gift table, topped with a larie, beautifully decorated umbrella. The umbrella theme was further carried out in the favors, napklis and table centerpiece. Small Dink tinged pompoms and blue tapers accented the umbrella arrange ment on the serving table. Several games were enioved by the guests. WENTJAR IS GUEST SPEAKER AT LADY LIONS MEETING The newly organized West Side Lions' Auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Donald L. Bell, 814 Nebo St. Mrs. Harry bamslo. president, presided. New commit tee appointments were announced, and plans for programs for future meetings were discussed. It was decided that some part of the Christmas party, scheduled for Dec. 13, be devoted to the assem bling and wrapping of Christmas gifts for children at the state school for the blind. Mrs. Daniel Dimick. program chairman, introduced Mrs. Ernest S. Wentjar, speaker for the eve ning. Mrs. Wentjar displayed many of the beautiful Christmas decora tions which she has made and dis cussed and illustrated the making of a representative few. Her audi ence became most enthusiastic over the possibility a. creating sim ilar ones for their own homes. Re freshments were served rr the hostess.' CONVOCATION MEETING HELD AT PORTLAND BY WOMEN OF MOOSE ; The Convocation, which was held in Portland, Oct. 30, was honored by the presence of the grand council member, Tiry Nach tergalc, and deputy grand regent, Rose Van Meter. - The Portland Chapter Women of the Moose were hostesses to some 236 women at the Oregon State Convocation held last Sunday. Dep uty grand, Mrs. Waldon Itout ledge of Roseburg, presided at the ceremony. The session opened at 10:00 a.m. Sunday morning. The meeting was divided into 11 groups presided over by a dis cussion leader, each pertaining to one of the 11 chapter development committees. Alter the meeting re convened each discussion leader gave a two minute report of her group meeting. At 11:30 all mem bers were dismissed except mem bers of the Academy of Friend ship and members of the College of Regents. A 15 minute discus sion period was held for these two groups. At 11:45 friendship mem bers were dismissed and a college of regents discussion was held. Luncheon was served at 12 o'clock by the hostess chapter. The afternoon session, beginning at 1:15, featurtd the ritual cere monies by the five top honor chap ters in the State of Oregon: Al bany, St. Helens. Medford, Eu gene and Klamath Falls. Four teen candidates were initiated into the order in honor of the deputy grind regent. The highlight of the afternoon was the capping cere mony for all junior graduate re gents. There were 12 girls capped: 11 from Oregon, and one from Washington. A talk was given by Fern Burke, Seaside Chapter: followed by the scholarship fund march of donations by all the chapters. The contributions to the college of regents scholarship fund is used to further the education of a girl from Mooseheart, the organization's child city. Mrs. Waldon Rcutledge then dis cussed the theme of the convoca tion, which was "Miss Katherine's Wish." Many gifts were presented to the visiting dignitaries. Mrs. Paul Schulze and Mrs. Cat Bowles won prizes in the quiz pro gram. ' The sorority was graciously en tertained, at a buffet dinner Wed nesday evening at the home of Mrs. Charles Clark with Mrs. Wil liam Adams as co-hostess. This was a part of their self expres sion project. Various means of self expression were discussed. Plans are being made for a smor gasbord to be held in December. AMES HOME IS SCENE OF FAREWELL PARTY Oscar and Nell' Snelling, who left the following evening for Ida ho and Arizona, were honored Monday evening at a farewell party given at the home of Mrs. Ada Ames by members of the Women's Council and members and friends of the Glendale Church of Christ. The couple were pre sented with a gift from the church in addition to several individual gifts. Refreshments, brought by mem bers of the group, were served af the end of a period of visiting.
