ARTHUR SELBY The five man crew of steel riv eters of Local 29 from Portland have been steadily working (even in rain) since Sept. 8, bolting, : pinning and drivig the 9,000 riv ! ets to be placed in the steel struc I ture of the new Lone Rock Bridge. I "Peg" Lamberton, foreman of I the riveting crew, stated they ex- pect to complete the riveting of the 210 tons of sructural steel Nov. 1. Pouring Btglnt Oct. 21 The carpenters are working on the bridge deck putting in the forms for the pouring of the con crete while the riveters are work ing overhead. Pouring of concrete is expected to start Oct. 21, ac cording to Lamberton, and the con crete must set 21 days. Tom Lilli bo Construction Co. will not paint the bridge until spring as rain and snow causes rust lo form, and the steel must be sand-blasted before painting. The bridge will be opened in November and the Kiwanis Club of Glide is planning a public cele bration for the occasion. Duck Stamps Papular Mrs. C. F. Moore, postmaster at Glide and Mrs. Forrest Losee, postmaster at Idleyld Park, stated they had sold an unusual number pf duck stamps for the opening of the season. Mr. an Mrs, Guy Melcalf left Friday for Fort Klamath for duck hunting. Mr. and- Mrs. Ken Alexander, owners of Thunder Mountain Lodge, drove to Eastern Oregon (or the opening of the duck season. Mrs. Gilbert (Jeanette) Mag ness suffered a broken bone In her right foot wnen she slipped on a stone nurrying down a hill and fell. Mrs. Sheilds, who owns a dress shop in Myrtle Point, was buying merchandise for her store. John Trozelle and Dick Stark left Friday for several days hunt ing in Eastern Oregon. They were among several who went. Joanie Kruse attended the Rose-burg-Cottage Grove football game at Cottage Grove Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. L. W, Josse have returned to their home after spend ing over two months on an ex tended tour of the eastern and southern states and also into Can ada. They report having experi enced two of the recent hurri canes on the East Coast. "Mr. and Mrs. Don Guiley left for Eastern Oregon on Sunday where they will enjoy deer hunt ing a few days.
