Crabb, formerly of Cottage Grove, has Creen Giant Cannery At Ellensburg Folds ELLENSBURG 141 The Green Giant Co. announced Monday that it is discontinuing the operation of its fcUensourg corn cannery. , The shutdown means the loss of an industry that has paid a total of more than half a million a year 10 larmers ana worxers. A company statement attributed the decision to two reasons: (1) Growing and soil conditions which make the Kittitas Valley corn too variable for the firm's whole kernel pack; (2) Freight costs are too high to the markets to which cream style corn is shipped. He was driving to Lapine, Ore., to pick up a truck, when his car was rammed by another car at Oakridge and he. was badly hurt.
