Women of Roseburg are asked to attend to assist as hostesses. GALESVILLE PTA HOLDS REGULAR SESSION The Galesvill PTA held a reg ular meeting Thursday, Jan. 3. Mora daedecke, president, opened the meeting and in the absence ot tne secretary sne ap pointed Vera Kemp to serve protein. A kitchen shower will be given by the PTA for the new kitchen annex. Plans were made to entertain the dads at the end of January. Quite a number ot member at tended tne meeting. Mrs. 11a Quirke and Mrs. Pern- berton served the refreshments at the close of the meeting. ESTRALITA CLUB RECENT SESSION Estralita Club of Drain met at the borne of Frances Martin Mon day night with 14 present An elec tion of officers was held and the coming year: Bessie Hitter, presi dent; Lina Holms, vice president; Mildred Whipple, re-elected secre tary, and Velma Cool, treasurer. Next meeting will be held at tne home ol Lina Holms. AZALEA HOME ECONOMICS CLUB HOLDS RECENT SESSION The Azalea Home Economics Club met at the Grange hall Jan. 3. Several members were absent because of illness. Tea and cookies were served for refreshments. The next meeting will be the first Thursday in February. Reapportionment Mov. Advised By Spragu. PORTLAND t It will be up to the people of Oregoo to bring about sensible reapportionment of the state, Ex-Gov. Charles A. Sprague, Sale m publisher, said here Wednesday. Legislators Just won't do a good job of it, because no legislator wants to reapportion himself out of a job, Sprague told the League of Women voters. The only defensible way to re apportion the state is by popula tion, he said, adding that an Initiative measure to bring it about should be started berore the legis lature passes an ineffectual bill. U. A. Rands, Engineer Of N. W. Note, Poises PORTLAND on . Funeral ser- ices will be held here Friday for Harold A. Rands, 80 engineer who helped pick the sites for Bonne ville and McNary Dams on the Columbia River. With the Army Engineers here from. 1928 to 1848, he also did the survey for the original Willamette Valley flood control project. They complained to police. The police found the wives had learned only half the story. The husband, Rafael Estrada Huerta, was charged Wednesday with tak ing on four wives in 11 months. He hasn't got a job either. Ill at Heme - Mrs. Paul Helweg is reported to be ill at her home in Laurel wood. ' Enley Visit To Coast Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Wharton and Dr. and Mrs. H. C. Church of Roseburg spent last weekend at coast points. Ill Mrs. C. M. McDermott has been confined to her home on South Kane street for the last week by illness. Returns to Portland Mrs. Af fleck Sr. left Wednesday for her home in Portland, following a stay here with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Earl Affleck. L-avino Hospital Miley Fitz gerald of Roseburg. who has been in Community hospital for the last two months, will be leaving there very soon and go to her home at 463 Pitzer Street. Healvs Return Mr. and Mrs. Charles Healy have returned to their home in Roseburg, following the holidays in Huntington Park, Calif., visiting their son and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward M. Parker. I Back From California Mr. and Mrs. Bt A. Young have returned j to their home in West Moreland, following a vacation trip to Cali fornia. They enjoyed the East-! West football game in San Fran-! Cisco and the Rose Bowl gamo in Southern California. Btiliys Return Home Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bailey have return ed to their home in West Rose burg, following a three weeks va cation trip south. They were ac companied as far as Tujunga, Calif., by Mr. Bailey's mother, Mrs. James Bailey, of McMinn ville. They spent Christmas there with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Welman, son in-law and daughter of Mrs. James Bailey. The latter remained at the Welman home, while Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bailey went on to Coronado, where they were guests of Captain and Mrs. Walter Premo for six days. They enjoyed a trip to San Diego, La Jolla and Tia Juana, Mexico, and en route back north stopped over in Palm Springs for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Weiss. Mrs. James Bailey is remaining in Tujunga for another month. Goes Te Los Angeles Mrs. Jane Fies of Roseburg has left for Los Angelea to attend to busi ness. En route home, she will stop at Areata, Calif., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Herman Matiioff. The Mat-' isoffs formerly made their home in Roseburg. NEW FHA DIRECTOR "-WASHINGTON ( J. Guy Arrington will become Oregon di rector of the Federal Housing Ad ministration Jan. 13. - . - The FHA announced here that he will succeed Albert L. Buchner, who will resign to return to private business. Arrington has been his assistant. The Oregon headquar ters is at Portland.
