Turned off the alarm and then went back to ileep. It 'a a bad habit and sometimes can lead to disaster. Infinitelymore dangerous, how ever, Is the habit of shutting off the alarm which God has placed into every human heart the alarm called conscience. . What this country needs today, perhaps more than anything else, Is 150,000,000 awakened con sciences. If every conscience In the ' land were as sensitive to its bur den of personal guilt as It should be, there would be t run on Chris tian churches unparalleled In out history. An awakened conscience Is the only soil In which the Christian Gospel can take toot. Only the heart which has been tertlhed by the enormity of Its transgression can experience the regenerating power of the forgiveness which God offers to all men through Jesus Christ. The message of God to Amer ica's millions is still the age-old call: "Repent and believe the sjoepel! St. Paul's Lutheran Church Corey n Military St. RoMburtj, Oregon Service 8:30 and 11:00 A. M. Her suggestion that several people divide the Umpqua area and canvass it thoroughly was approved. Mrs. Dean Henry, Mrs. Ben Amerson, Mrs. LaVerne Murphy and Mrs. R. S. Mode agreed to cover the community. Those in attendance expressed themselves as very much im pressed with the new stage cur tain that replaced the old one. This improvement was made possible by the efforts of Mrs. Meryl Mur phy, who canvassed towns and countryside for advertiser! to pay for it.
