Reeebvra, Ore Frl., Jan. 11, 1952 AZALEA GRANOE HOLDS RECENT MEETING AND INSTALLATION CEREMONY Eighteen member! of the Azalea Grange attended the installation ceremony held Friday evening at the Evergreen Grange. Two new members were initiated at this meeting. They were Mr. and Mrs. Clayton. The officer! practiced the new seating drill. Mrs. Mina Johnson, lecturer, announced the next meet ing of the Grange will be an open session and that she has made arrangements for a popular movie to be shown at that time, The lecturer has plans for the meeting and wishes til those who can to attend. SWINGEROO SQUARE DANCE CLUB TO MEET Swingeroo Square Dance club will meet Saturday, Jan. 12, yt 9 p.m. at the Edenbower school. Ladies attending are asked to bring sandwiches. Roll call was answered with suggestions for im proving the club. Several standing committees were appointed. Refreshments: Mrs. Ernest Booth, chairman, assisted by Mrs. Louis Pryor, Mrs. Art Jones, Mrs. Hayden Taylor and Mrs. William Cunningham. Decorations: Mrs. J. A. Combs, chairman, Mrs. Tom Counts, Mrs, Charles Crouch, Mrs. LaMar Or mand and Mrs. Milo Clauuhton. Hospitality: Mrs. Guy Moore, chairman, Mrs. Louis Papst, Mrs. L. G. Weaver, Mrs. Edgar Mark bam and Mrs. Robert Wheeler. Advertising: Mrs. Milo Claugh- ton, chairman, Mrs. Ernest Booth and Mrs. Ted Heilman. The re porter- is Mrs, Marlen Yoder. An entertainment committee was not appointed as each individ ual hostess is to play her own surprise entertainment. There will also be one co-hostess to serve with each hostess. It was decided to have a display table at the Grange meetings once every quar ter. Mrs. Doris Lamm, assisted by Mrs. Wilmer White and Mrs. A. L. Spencer, will be in charge. There was a discussion on the projects for the coming year. A silver tea offering was taken and refreshments were served. DILLARD PTA PROGRAM TO HOLD REHEARSALS The first rehearsal for the "Father's Night" program to be given at the Dillard school PTA Friday night, meeting Jan. 18, was held Monday night, in the school auditorium. Mrs. Charles McCord, program chairman for the PTA extends an invitation to ' any men who would be interested in taking part in the program to attend the next rehearsal. This ii a program where local talent, both amateur and professional will be presented on stage. A more specific date will be announced later. The proceeds of this pro gram will take care of expenses of officers attending the Oregon Congress of Parent Teachers con vention to be beld in Pendleton in April. Mrs. Keith Carter asked for more volunteer blood donors. Mrs. Lockwood won the room count. The meeting adjourned to the lunchroom, where refreshments were served., SCHOLARSHIP LOAN TEA GUEST-DAY AFFAIR TO BE EVENT OF TUESDAY The annual scholarship loan fund tea to be sponsored by the Rose- burg Woman's Club will be a large event of next Tuesday at one-thirty o'clock at the new clubhouse on West Mosher Street Miss Helen Casey will present the one-act comedy, 'A Chinese Komance." Characters include; Mandarine, Norma Wheaton; Her oine, Pauline Winston; Hero, Hel en Casey; Property Man, Alice Ueland, and Incense Bearer, Mil dred Beauchamp. Musicians will be Naomi Scott, Beulah Roach, Pa tricia Mayo and Jean Marr. Preceding the presentation of the play, the Scott String Quartet will play special music. Mrs. Earl Plummer, president, will conduct the meeting. This will be a special guest-day affair. Tea will be served at the close of the program. A TRAVELING LIBRARY TO BE SET UP IN CAMAS VALLEY SCHOOL A traveling library, to be ob tained from the state library, will be sponsored by the Camas Val ley PTA. This was decided at the meeting of the group Monday. The library will be housed in a special bookcase at the high school library and Mrs. Everett Moody, high school librarian, will be in charg'j of the books. The books are free, but a fine will be imposed for overdue books. Books may be obtained by any one between 2:30 p.m. ana 4 p.m. on school days. It was also announced at the meeting that the home room of the sophomore and senior classes won the membership prize for having the highest percentage of members. The first grade room, Mrs. Lucile Counts, teacher, won the meeting prize. Superintendent Marlen Yoder gave a report on the progress of plans for the new addition and remodeling of the school building. WILLING WORKERS CLUB TO HOLD DANCE Mrs. Gerald Johnston graciously entertained the members of the Scotts Valley Willing Workers club at her home Wednesday after noon. During the business ses sion, the following officers were elected for the coming year: Pres ident, Mrs. Ray Turpin; vice presi dent, Mrs. Gerald Johnston; sec retary, Mrs. Archie Damon; As sistant secretary, Mrs. Bessie Vro man. Eight members were pres ent and two guests, Mrs. Elton Grass and Mrs. Perry Smith. Mrs. Smith joined the club. The Willing Workers Club wi! hold a benefit card party at Vic tory Hall, Jan, 12, for the polio fund. Everyone is invited. Refresh ments will be served. Mrs. Mil dred Murray and Mrs. Clarence McKern are the card party com I mittee for the coming year. SUNSHINE BLUEBIRD GROUP MEETS AT DRAIN The Sunshine Bluebird group at Drain met Monday with leaders, Venus Davis and Dorothy Morris. The girls made snow flakes as their project and pasted them in their scrapbook. XI EPSILON CHAPTER HOLDS MEETINO AT HART HOME TUESDAY Members of XI Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, beld a regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Charles Hart in Garden Homes Tuesday evening at eight o'clock. Mrs. B. A. Saar had charge of the short business meeting at which time the calendar of coming scheduled event for the year were discussed. Mrs. Wayne Crooch gave i report on the Christmas party given for the Twanka group of Camp Fire girls sponsored by the Xi Epsilon Chapter. A report on the Beta Sigma Phi City Council meeting was given by Mrs. Benjamin Du fresne. It was announced that the members of Xi Epsilon were to be in charge of getting blood dan ori for the Bloodmobile which will be in Roseburg in April. Following the business meeting an interesting program was pre sented by Mrs. Harrison Winston on "Travel and Accommodations Between the United States and Mexico City." At the close of the program the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Sidney Moon served delicious refresh ments to the following members who were present: Mrs. Bernard Saar, Mrs. Benjamin Dufresne, I Mrs. Bud Tozier, Mrs. Sabra Whar ton, Mrs. Clair K. AUen, Mrs. Wayne Crooch, Mrs. Harrison Win ston and two guests from Xi Omi cron Chapter, Mrs. Eugffne Powell and Mrs. Marcus Brown. The next meeting of Xi Epsilon Chapter will be held Jan. 22 at the home of Mrs. Bud Tozier on Union Avenue. All members are urged to attend. WINSTON-DILLARD HOME EXTENSION UNIT PLANS SPECIAL EVENT SERIES The first in a series of special event! for the Winston-Dillard Home Extension Unit is sched uled for Jan. 23. Place for the meeting will be announced later.
