UP) A grass hopper spraying plane crashed near here yesterday killing its pilot, M. S. Baker, about 42, Sa lem, Ore. He was flying a converted bomber training ship for the Ace Flying Service of Salem. The plane struck a power line pole, sheared off a wing and dropped to the ground. Baker died a few minutes later. His widow, Mrs. Florence Baker, Salem, and an 8-year-old aon sur vive. " PACI DIOGENES PORTLAND .f Ray L. Fleming, son of a former Portland police chief, is under indictment on a charge of assault and armed robbery. The grand jury Indicted the 25-year-old son of James Fleming. Building Job Halted; Crowds Property Lint City Inspector C. H. Boniols an nounced that he had issued a atop work order on the Trued apartment extension, as the rear of the new building is too close to the rear property line. The rear property line runs at an angle, so that only the northeast corner of the building is affected by the 10-foot aetback line require ment. Boniols said that the apart ment owners are attempting to purchase additional property in the rear to legalize construction of the building. The addition to the Trued apart ments, located on Chadwick street, west of Washington, is a separate building immediately to the rear of the apartments now occupied.
