Catnip Brings Capers From CHICAGO (IP) A bushel of catnip was tossed into the lion house at the Brookfield zoo. Min utes . later, the animal had the place jumping. " Officers disclosed plans call for two regiments with a total strength of about 4,00c men. The intent is to train a militia to replace the national guard, should the guard be c.allcd into federal service. One regiment is to have head quarters in Portland, the other in Salem. They be haved like over-grown kittens, and like cats, they appeared very fond of the catnip, the well known, strong-scented herb. A 160 -pound Indian leopard and regarded as dangerous, appeared to be trying to giggle. He sniffed the herb, rolled on it. and then staggered around drunkenly with a spray of catnip draped over one ear. Three brother lions acted very alley cattish. One howled; another chased his tail; the third rolled on his back, gazed dreamily at the ceiling and gurgled. Two surly bengal tigers attempt ed tricks after taking a few whiffs of the catnip.
