Garden Valley Women's Club Observes 35th Anniversary The 35th anniversary of the Gar den Valley Women's club was ob served Thursday afternoon at the clubhouse. A potluck luncheon was served at a table decorated with low bowls of pansies, primroses yellow tulips, poppies and sea shells. Mrs. Fred Parrott, a charter member, read the club history and mentioned the charter officers. Two olher charter members, Mrs John Sinclair and Mrs. W. D. Hess were present. A Mother's day play was given. The cast included Mrs. F. G. Ewens, Mrs. Ed Langlois, Mrs. R. W. Fielding, Mrs. Clem Schnei der, Miss Nelda Norris, Marvin Schneider, Bobby and Roger Field ing Mrs. Schnfider was reader Mrs. Clair Spray and Mrs. U. F. The couple will make their home for the present at Idleyld where Mr. Davis is a retired rancher. Mr. and Mrs. Davis planned a trip to Eugene this weekend to visit relatives and friends. FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH PLANS BOX SOCIAL, VACATION CHURCH SCHOOL "Putting God First" was the topic of discussion at the meeting of Martha circle, of the Faith Lutheran church Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Fred Aamot. Mrs. Elmer Schindler was co-hostess. Devotions were led by Mrs. C. H. Nordling. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. B. J. P ulson with Mrs. L. Fredlund as hostess, June 13. The group discussed making con firmation robes to be kept for use each year. A box social is sche duled for May 21 at the Episcopal parish hall at S p.m. to benefit the building fund. Vacation church school will be held mornings from June 12 to 23 at Eden church at Elgarose. Transportation will be furnished for children from the Faith Lutheran Sunday school. MRS. McClintock, captain, in charge of the meeting. Plans were completed tor the box social and folk and square dance to be held at 6:30 o'clock tonight, May 13, at the clubhouse. Members and in vited guests are asked to attend. A limit will be placed on the boxes, which will be auctioned off at six thirty o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Spencer will act as instructors for the dancing. Good music has been secured for the occasion. Plans were completed for the guest-day brunch and two-ball foursome to be held Tuesday, May 16, at ten o'clock in the morning at the clubhouse. Prizes will be awarded on blind bogey. Tea and coffee will be served during the social hour following the golf play. Mrs. Herman Matisoff presented the secretary's report. A point tournament preceded the luncheon with Mrs. E. A. ESTHER MARIE LIVERMORE WEDS SALVATOR SUNSERI IN MORNING CEREMONY The marriage of Miss Esther Marie I.ivermore daughter of Mr and Mrs. Willard Livermore, of this city, and Salvator Sunseri. son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Sunseri of Portland, was an event of Satur day, April 29 at the St. Joseph's Catholic church. The nuptial mass was read by Father Edmund Hyland in the pre sence of the immediate family and relatives. The bride selected a blue tailored suit with -white ac cessories for her wedding outfit. An orchid was pir.ncd to her shoul der. Attending the bride was Miss Carol Bishop of this city. She wore gray ensemble with white ac cessories and a gardenia corsage. August Sunseri of Portland, broth er of the bridegroom was best man. The bride's mother wore a navy blue ensemble with gardenias. A wedding breakfast followed at the Rose hotel. The couple left on a wedding trip to Portland and are making their home at 845 Fullerton street. Mrs. Sunseri attended Roseburg high school and is employed at the B. and B. Taxi office. AL STEFFENSON COMPLIMENTED AT BIRTHDAY PARTY Mr. and Mrt. Jack May enter tained at a delightful party at their home Saturday evening to compliment Mrs. Al Steffenson on her birthday. The occasion also honored Wallace Crook, who is home on furlough from the air base at Guam, and hit friend, Ie Giles, of Salem, who went on to his home the following day. Wallace and Lee entertained the group by relating their experiences on Guam. A beautiful birthday cake centered the bulfct table and lovely refreshments were served. Plans were completed for th institution of the organization to be held Sunday, May 21, at th I. O. O. F. hall at two o'clock. The institution ceremony will be conducted by members of the Eugene ttxlge and will be followed hw inilintinn anil Inter inctallntinn I of officers. Dress will be formal and all members are requested to be present at the ceremony, A banquet at the Moose hall will follow. Hospital committee for th occasion included: Mary Smith, Rosemary Ollivcr and Faye Jonet. Ollie Krueger is chairman of th food committee. Officers appointed at the meet ing included: Argus, Marjori Reinhart; sentinel, Katharine Sim mons; guide, Nona Thompson; guide, Lenor Horn, and pianist, June Williams. An interesting report wat given by Ollie Krueger on a meeting of the Eugene lodge attended recently by a group of local members. Mrs. Katharine Smith, grand chancellor, spoke at this meeting on Moose heart. It was of interest in Mrt. Smith't report that women of the Moose had educated and financed over 2000 nurses during the war years. The next regular meeting of the local organization will be held at the Moose hall Monday, May 22, at eight o'clock in the evening. PATCH AND CHAT CLUB ENJOYS MEETING Patch and Chat club members enjoyed visiting and sewing at th home of Mrs. Gordon Ware Tues day. Spring flowers decorated th rooms.
