Observes 35th Anniversary
The 35th anniversary of the Gar
den Valley Women's club was ob
served Thursday afternoon at the
clubhouse. A potluck luncheon was
served at a table decorated with
low bowls of pansies, primroses
yellow tulips, poppies and sea
shells.
Mrs. Fred Parrott, a charter
member, read the club history
and mentioned the charter officers.
Two olher charter members, Mrs
John Sinclair and Mrs. W. D. Hess
were present.
A Mother's day play was given.

Women golfers met Thursday at
the Roseburg Country club with
Mrs. L. E. McClintock, captain, in
charge of the meeting. Plans were
completed tor the box social and
folk and square dance to be held
at 6:30 o'clock tonight, May 13, at
the clubhouse. Members and in
vited guests are asked to attend.
A limit will be placed on the boxes,
which will be auctioned off at six
thirty o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Lester
Spencer will act as instructors for
the dancing. Good music has been
secured for the occasion.
Plans were completed for the
guest-day brunch and two-ball
foursome to be held Tuesday, May
16, at ten o'clock in the morning
at the clubhouse. Prizes will be
awarded on blind bogey. Tea and
coffee will be served during the
social hour following the golf play.

the secretary's report. A point
tournament preceded the luncheon

day, April 29 at the St. Joseph's
Catholic church.
The nuptial mass was read by
Father Edmund Hyland in the pre
sence of the immediate family
and relatives. The bride selected
a blue tailored suit with -white ac
cessories for her wedding outfit.

by Ollie Krueger on a meeting of
the Eugene lodge attended recently
by a group of local members. Mrs.

Smith't report that women of the
Moose had educated and financed
over 2000 nurses during the war
years.
The next regular meeting of the
local organization will be held at
the Moose hall Monday, May 22,
at eight o'clock in the evening.
