Sat., May U, ItSO Th News-Review, Roteburf, Or. S Spring blossom banked the altar of the Yoncalla Church of Christ church, Wednesday evening, April 19 for the wedding of Miss Donna Lloyd and Jerry Means. A candle light service was read jy the Rev James Smith, pastor of the church before a large group of relatives and friends. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Uoyd and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Means, all of Yon calla. Given in marriage by her father, the bride selected a pale blue satin gown fashioned with a cowl neckline and net yoke. Her finger length net veil was held in place with a nylon crown. She carried an arm bouquet of sweet heart roses. Attending 'her as ' matron of honor was 'tier aunt, Mrs. Max Main. She wore a pale yellow taffeta gown and carried an old fashioned bouquet of rosebuds and carnations. The bridesmaids were Mins Col in a Means, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Robert Lane. Miss Means wore I pale yellow taffeta gown and carried an old fashioned bouquet of yellow daffo dils and white carnations. Mrs. Lane's gown was of pale green taffeta and she held a nosegay of white carnations. Little Laura Ethel Meston, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She preceded the wedding party down the aisle scattering rose petals. Donald Meyers was best man. Ushers were Jimmie Lloyd, brother of the bride and Bnhhia Means, brother of the bridcsroom The bride's mother wore a black afternoon frock with while acces sories and a pink carnation corsage. The wedding party approached the altar to traditional wedding music piayea oy sirs. Arne Bjork She also played incidental num bers prior to the ceremonv. Mrs. Andy Curtwright and Mrs. Carl lonaway, aunta of the bride, sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "I Love You Truly." The candelabra were lighted by Miss Joanne Brant, wearing pale orchid taffeta; and Miss Joyce roller, in ngnt green tatteta. A reception followed in the Sun day school rooms. The three-tiered wedding cake, topped with a miniature bridal couple, was first cut by the bride and bridegroom Mrs. Dora Bonner completed the serving. Assisting at the reception were Mrs. Charles Vian, Mrs. Andy curtwrignt, Mrs. carl Lonaway Mrs. Meston, Mrs. Wilford Vian and Mrs. Lloyd Wise. Mrs. Donald Meyers had charge of the guest book. For traveling the bride chose a gray suit with white accessories They have taken up residence at the Kruse apartments following a wedding trip to Odell lake and McCredie springs. Episcopal Ladies Guild Apron Sale Proves Successful Affair Wednesday The Episcopal parish bouse was the scene of a successful apron style show at the regular monthly meeting of the Ladies Guild Wednesday. Each member attend ing brought an apron for admis sion. Models during lunch were Mrs. Frank Woodworth, Mrs. John Klllop. Miss Irene Trapalis, Mrs. Carl Wimberly Jr.. Mrs. Bill Lind sell, Miss Ann Lindsell and Miss Susan Sicfarth. Prizes were awarded. First prize in the most useful category was awarded to Mrs. Lindsell for a mother and daughter apron set in a pinafore style. Mrs. Kranklyn Voyt Jr., not a member of the Guild, sent an apron which won second prize in the usejul classi fication. Mrs. J. C. Hume and Mrs. Alfred Tyson took first and second place for originality in their aprons. Mrs. A. G. Henninger and Mrs. A. B. Collier won first and second prizes for the prettiest aprons. HASKINS COMPLIMENTS MISS JOYCE AT BON VOYAGE PARTY Miss Margaret Joyce, chief die tician at the Veterans hospital in Roseburg, who Is leaving May letn for a tour of Europe, was honored at a charming party Saturday eve ning given by Mrs. John L. Has kins at her attractive home at the Veterans hospital post. Color ful spring flowers formed the deco rations. Canasta was in play during the evening with Mrs. Vivian Pobar winning high; Mrs. Mona Riley winning second high score and Mrs. Geraldine Sheehy receiving the low prize. The guests gave a gift of cash to the guest of honor for her to buy a gift for herself while she is in Europe. Lovely refreshments were served later in the evening by Mrs. Haskins. Tudor Miss Pauline Caskey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Caskey of Roseburg and John M. Tudor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morrell Tudor of Kalama, Wash., were married at the Congregational church in The Dalles bunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. Rev. Clyde H. Beard, formerly of Roseburg, read the double ring ceremony. Mrs. Clyde If. Beard played the organ preceding the ceremony and accompanied Glen Willed who sang "I Love You Truly" and "Because." The wedding party entered the church to traditional wedding music. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of white net fashioned with a full skirt and fitted bodice. Her full length veil was held in place oy rhinestone tiara and she carried yellow orchids and stcphanotis on a white prayer book. Attending her was Mrs. James Barkee of Libby, Mont., as matron of honor. She wore pale lavender net with matching headband of sweet peas. She carried a nosegay of pink and lavendar sweet peas. Bridesmaids were Miss Helen Wilson in' pink chiffon and Miss Esther McMullen in pale blue chiffon. Their headbands and nose gays were of pink and while sweet peas. The candles were lighted by miss ciiajean cade wno wore a pale turquoise formal. Large baskets of pink and white snap dragons stood on either side of the chancel. James Barkee of Libby, Mont., was best man. Ushers were Leslie Wilson of Portland and Gene Rothery of Wasco. The bride's mother selected 1 navy blue suit with matching accessories. Mrs. Tudor, the bride groom's mother wore gray with pink accessories. Both wore cor sages of pink carnationa. A reception followed In the Isa bella Gray room of the church The three-tiered heart-shaped wed ding cake was topped with a miniature bride and bridegroom. Pink tulips, narcissus and fern encircled the cake. The cake was first cut by the bride with Mrs. Leslie Wilson, sister of the bride, completing the cutting. Mrs. Arthur Hill poured. Mrs. Dee Boyer, sister of the bride, served punch and the guest book was in charge of Miss Jan Drnke. ' For traveling the bride wore a yellow and lavendar checked suit Willi lavendar hat and blouse. Her accessories were cocoa brown and she wore a corsage of yellow orchids. Alter a wedding trip to Grand Coulee dam and Portland they ara making their home at The Dalles. The bride is a graduate of Rose burg high school snd The Dalles Hospital School of Nursing. The bridegroom attended school in Nebraska and is employed as an electrician in The Dalles. Lytle, guests, and the hostess, Mrs. Morgan. high scores tor the contract bridge play were won by Mrs. Jacobson and Mrs. Pickens. MRS. HAROLD E. SCHMEER ENTERTAINS AT LOVELY LUNCHEON ON TUESDAY Mrs. Harold E. Schmeer enter tained at a very lovely one o'clock luncheon at her attractive home in Laurelwood Tuesday afternoon having as guests: Mrs. A. G. Henninger, Mrs. Kenneth Bailey, Mrs. Deming Bronson and Mrs. E. R. Harvey. Iris and camellias formed the decorations for the serving table and room bouquets. (Picture by Gladys Gilbert Studies Miss Jo Ann Carolyn Amorde, Miss Oregon of 1948, and only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Amorde, of Sutherlin, became the bride of Raymond Reedy Berg, son of Mr. snd Mrs. A. M. Berg, of Huron. South Dakota, May 6, at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Portland. Father Paul Benedict performed the double ring cere mony at four-thirty o'clock in the afternoon in the presence of 100 guests. Two tall baskets of calla lilies and white snapdragons were placed at the altar. The nuptial music was played on the organ and the soloist sang, "Our Wed ding Day," and "Ava Maria." The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of white chantilly lace. Her veil of illusion fell from a matching lace cap edged with orange jlossoms snd she carried a shower bouquet of Boston daisies. Kathryn Vlahos of Portland (school mate of the bride) was maid of honor and wore a white embossed orgsndy gown fashioned ankle length over aqua taffeta. She wore a matching picture hat and carried yellow blossom daisies Berthamae Howard of Portland waa bridesmaid and wore a dress and hat identical to that of the maid of honor. She also carried yellow blossom daisies. Al Stremich of Portland, was best man and Quentin Sidesinger of Portland was usher. The bride's mother wore a navy blue crepe gown with pink acces sories and her corsage was a cluster of carnations. A wedding dinner followed for the bridal party and fifty guests given by the bride's parents, Mr, a r Mra. Archie Amorde, at Berg's Chalet. Organ music was played throughout the dinner hour. The three-tiered wedding cake was circled with yellow daisiea. Miss Adala had charge o' the guest book. For traveling the bride chose a grey suit with matching grey and red accessories. Her corsage waa of red carnations. Following a honeymoon to Oregon beaches, Mr. and Mrs. Berg wiil be at home to their friends at 2060 N. W. Love joy. Portland, Ore. Out-of town guests were front Coos Bay, Eugene, Edmonton, Canada, Spokane, Wash., and i Sutherlin. The bride was chosen Miss Rose burg in 1948 and sent to the state finals at Seaside, where she was chosen Miss Oregon and sent to Atlantic City. She placed high in the national beauty contest and won a scholarship as a reward. She attended State Teachers col lege in Wisconsin and University of Oregon. She has been employed as fashion coordinator and model I at Meier and Frank in Portland.
