This means the polls will be open from 9 a.m. to p.m. in communities with daylight sav ing time. They will be open from 1 a.m. to I p.m. in those with standard time. O'Hara said the issue was settled by a recent supreme court de cision which ordered a new trial in a Clatsop county school election case. In that case, the election was held on daylight aaving time. O'Hara said the state law pro vides the polls be open from S a.m. to I p.m., and that that means standard time. He said state law prevails over any local ordinance providing for daylight time.
