Elliott, superintendent of the Roseburg School System, was the speaker of the evening and talked on the proposed school budget to be offered taxpayers for approval in the coming elec tion. A very Interesting program was presented by seven girls from Mrs. Matishoff'B Camp fire group. The group voted to purchase a cupboard for storage space for P.-T. A. paraphernalia. It was also voted to purchase a lace tablecloth and a table centerpiece. Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting. Mis. Mrs. Chadwell delighted the group by laying "Trees," "Rustle of pring," and "Ava Maria," and graciously responded with "Rhap sody in Clue" as an pncr.ro. Mrs. R. E. Morrill with twelve members answerig roll-call with poetry se lections. A short business meet ing was followed by members working on a ouilt and visiting. Mrs. Arthur Hillman, who Is re turning to Los Angeles because of ill health, withdrew from the club. Dainty refreshments were ser ved by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Ralph St. Peter and Mrs. GlenShippe. Those present were Mrs. Vernon Sanders, Miss Clara Schluenz, Mrs. Virgil Lynn, Mrs. George James, Mrs. M. Manning, Mrs. G. ROSEBURG CIRCLE TO HOLD MEETING Members of the Roseburg Circle made plans for a rummage sale at its last meeting, when Mrs. Warren Tozior was hostess at thr home of Mrs. Steve Fowler. FISHER AS GUEST SPEAKER TUESDAY The American Legion Aux iliary met Tuesday evening, April 6, at the Armory, with Mrs. George Jackson, presiding. A large group of Auxiliary mem bers were present. Mrs. Walter Fisher, guest speaker, was introduced by Mrs. Gertrude Hatfield, . who had charge of the Pan-American pro gram due to Mrs. Roy Young's absence. Mrs. Fisher gave a very line talk on her recent trip to South America. She explained the different forms of govern ment and money exchanges en countered, buying wares from the natives, and of the strange behavior of the llama, beast of burden in the Andes. Her descrip tions of Mexico City, Panama, Lima and the Inca ruins, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and Rio de Ja neiro, Sugar Loaf, and the Christ of the Andes Statue that over looks the city of Rio de Janeiro were very vivid. The unit saluted all ex-service women at this meeting. Mrs. Flo Chipman, Mrs. Blanche Casey and Miss Virginia Young were among those present represent ing this group. Mrs. Violet Hannon, Depart ment Hospital Chairman, will assume duties of Unit Rehabilita tion Chairman temporarily. Mrs. Ruth Rhoden, recently resigned this position. Reports of the recent food, plant and shrub sale have been favorable and the unit thank all who assisted. Plans are under way for the Gold Star Mothers Dessert Sup per In May. Mrs. Madge Dixon and Mrs. Greta Caskey are in charge of this supper. The Camp Fire Girls sponsored by the American Legion Aux iliary made and served delicious refreshments. Miss Virginia Young is in charge of this group. The Auxiliary Sewing Group meets at the home of Mrs. Jane Stephens, 324 E. Washington, Wednesday afternoon, 2 p. m., April 14. This group sews for the American Legion Auxiliary Child Welfare Center located at the Armory. More help is needed In this department.
