YONCALLA BOY IS MARRIED AT BREMERTON YONCALLA Word has been received liom Bremerton, Wash., of the marriage of Miss Lorraine Itubetta Shelly, daughter of Mr. and Mis. Arthur Shelly of Brem er. on. Wash., and William (Jro.ss, nephew of Mrs. Herman Thiel of Yoncalla. The groom was raised in Yoncalla and a 1 1 en led hot h grade and high schools here. I MERRY DOZEN CLUB IS ENTERTAINED Mr. and Mrs. Abncr Rico Sr. entertained the Merry - Down Club at a very charming turkey dinner party at their lovely home on Willis Creek. Sunday evening. The long linen covered table was centered with Poinsettias and two decorated birthday cakes. Follow ing the dinner, gift-a were pre sented to the guests of honor, Mrs. Liis Hice and Mrs. Vera Kicc. Kin of Roseburg Men Dies in Fire Rhinehart Schemer, one of the two men who died in a house fire on the Garden Home road near Portland Wednesday morning, was a brother of Fred Schemer, Sr., Janitor at Roseburg Senior High School, and an uncle of Fred Schemer, Jr., and Bill Scher ner, operators of a local bottlin plant. He was 50 years of age and a logger by occupation. The other victim of the fire was William Rice. t8, owner of the house, a long time friend of Schemer, w ho was his over night visitor. Cause of the fire was listed as- "unknown," although neighbors said Rice customarily put kindling in the oven of his cook stove to dry out. Poland Plans Military Training on Big Scale WARSAW. Jan. 29. t.TI A law expected to pass parliament today provides for broad mobiliza tion for military training of youths and undrilled men up to 30. The official press agencv dis closed that the "Sluzba Polsce" statute creating a government directed national youth organiza tion provided compulsory mili tary training not only for youths in the 16-21 age brackets but also for men of more advanced years.
