Too few people are willing tq give even such small measure of cooperation, jf it; takes a little of their time and effort. Many persons, perhaps the greatest number pf those di rectly affected, will not see the questionnaire, for they are newcomers who (for which we have deep regret), are not i. But every answer received will be of great aid to the committee in correctly estimating the number of homes, the percentage of veterans involved, average size of residences contemplated, amount of materials required, etc. We are still of open mind regarding the effectiveness of this committee. It has been our observation that federal agencies glory in setting up local committees and then blithely ignoring every recommendation and suggestion, con verting the committee as rapidly as possible into a propa ganda agency, while conducting its administration of con trols in its own merry way. We have had assurance that this time it is to be different.
