The ceremony was performed by Dr. Bruce Mills, pastor. The bride was given in marri age by Maj. Irving of Fort Lewis, Wash. Attendants were Miss Catherine Irving, sister of the firido, and Sgt. Lewis Beeson of Hagerstown, Ind. The bride wore a pastel blue suit with navy ' accessories and a pale pink corsage. Miss Irving Ulrlch in charge of refreshments. PATCH AND CHAT CLUB MEETS AT SMITH HOME WEDNESDAY The Patch and Chat club met Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. D. W. Smith. Sewing and visiting were enjoyed and later delicious refreshments were serv ed by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Marie Houllk and Mrs. Gor don Ware. Hess entertained at a charming seven o'clock supper party at her beautiful home on Overlook Sunday evening. Dutch Iris and splrea formed an attrac tive motif for the occasion. Melcher wore an aqua-colored suit with brown accessories. The parents of the bride and a few friends were present. The ceremony was followed by a dinner for the bridal party at Gerald's in Great Falls. The couple will make their home at 525 7th Ave. N., Great Falls, Mont. The bride was graduated from R. H. S. In 1940 and was employ ed at the Roseburg Pharmacy un til she took training as an aircraft mechanic. She is now employed at the Great Falls air base. The groom is an Inspector with the Alaskan Wing of the Air Trans port Command and is stationed at Great Falls. GARDEN VALLEY WOMEN'S CLUB HAS ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON MEETING The Garden Valley Women's club held an enjoyable meeting Thursday afternoon at the club house with Mrs. Harvey Ewens as hostess. Beautiful roses, iris and blooming shrubs were taste fully arranged about the rooms. During the business session, plans were made for a communi ty potluck dinner to be held at the clubhouse Sunday, June 11, at one o'clock. Those atending are asked to bring a basket lunch and their own table service. During the social hour lovely refreshments were served by the hostess, Mrs. Ewens to: Mrs. R. A. Calhoun, Mrs. G. C. Wiley, 809 South Kane street, was the scene of a beautiful candelllght wedding at five o' clock Tuesday evening, May 2, when their lovely daughter, Miss Evelyn Greer Wiley, P. R. 2C, U. S. N. A. S., of Peru, Indiana, became the bride of Victor Law rence Kelley, Aero. 2C U. S. N. A. A. F. 1 San Clcmente Island. Mr. Kelley Is' the son of Mrs. V. C. Leake, of Pasadena, California, and R. V. Kelley, of Duluth, Minnesota. This was the first marriage solemnized in Roseburg, of which both the bride and bridegroom belong to the U. S., Naval Forces. A tasteful arrangement of red rosebuds over the fireplace, and bouquets of fragrant spring flowers about the rooms added to the beauty of the occasion. Attorney Paul Geddes, accom panied by his wife, sang "The Sunshine of Your Smile" In grato fu tribute to the bride's parents at whose wedding that solo was, sung. The bride, attired In the whits uniform of the Waves, wearing a corsage of red rosebuds, and carrying a white prayer book, entered on the arm of her father, as Mrs. Paul Geddes at the piano played Wagner's Lohengrin brid al Chorus, the notes of which, translated into words, rejoice: "Now to the altar of the loving MRS. G. V. WIMBERLY ENTERTAINS AT CHARMING TEA TUESDAY AFTERNOON Mrs. G. V. Wimberly invited a few friends to her beautiful home on Glenn street Tuesday after noon to work on lap robes for the Red Cross and to enjoy a social hour. Lovely bouquets of mixed spring flowers were artistically arranged about the rooms. At the tea hour, Mrs. Wimberly served lovely refreshments to: Mrs. J. F. Barker, Mrs. Velle Broadway, Mrs. J. F. When the bride and bridegroom had pledged their vows, Mrs. Geddes, In conclusion, played a portion of Mendelssohn's Wed ding March. Miss Jean Wiley, sister of the bride, was maid of honor; she wore a blue ensemble, with a cor sage of Oriental peonies. The bride's brother, Law rence Wiley, was best man. Those present, besides the bride's family, were Mr. and Mrs. Ray B. Hampton, Miss Eula Car .nahan, the Rev. and Mrs. Rinke A. Feenstra and Attorney and Mrs. Paul Geddes. After the ceremony dainty re freshments were served by the bride's mother, assisted by Mrs. Hampton and Miss Carnahan. Following the wedding the hap py couple wis entertained by friends of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, at the Hotel Rose. On Wednesday; May 3, Mr. Kellev accompanied his bride as far north as Portland, where she i entrained east for her base at , Peru. Mr. Kelley then went south, returning to his base at San j Clemente Island. ! MISS HUTCHINSON IS HOSTESS TO PINOCHLE CLUB ON WEDNESDAY Miss Frances Hutchinson en tertained her pinochle club at a delightful party at the home of Mrs. Ella Lenox Wednesday eve ning. LOWELL RUSSELL HEARD ON PROGRAMS DURING VISIT HERE Mrs. Lowell Russell, wife of Naval Aviation Machinist Mate Lowell Russell, who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Russell of this city, was a guest singer on the Rotary program at the Hotel Umpqua Thursday noon and on the pnignm at the Phllctarlan lodge No. 8 meeting that evening at the I. O. O. F. hall. Mr. and Mrs. Russell have been spending the former's leave in Roseburgi visiting , his parents Mrs. Russell is an exceptionally talented singer and is a student of voice at the Bontist college at Shawnee, Okla.
