Where softest rain and sunshine Beside the long lagoon Brought forth a million blossoms And ripened rich fruit soon, With joy and health and gladness Their young livens were in tune From flint, which she discovered Down In a deep defile, He fashioned heads for arrows Upon that fertile isle. ' War broke tho peace, pervading That haven In the seas. While bravest Yankee soldiers Advanced through jungle trees And fought the hordes, : comprising Twelve thousand Japanese. lney searched Tor yellow snipers And slew them mile on mile. Till Nippon's beaten army Fled from that tropic isle. As sweet as matchless music One hears on nights in June, When over moonlit islands The winds on mountains croon Through green and fragrant forests Creation's mystic rune; As radiant with beauty As down's resplendent smile, Became the love that found them Upon that lonely isle.
