Many psychologists would agree with this educator. He would probably admit that mere speed of notion does not necessarily break down moral fiber. Locomotive engineers, for instance, travel at a very rapid rate every day, but they are a very rcliablo class of men. Tre thing that does break down many natures, is the de mand for constant excitement and change. They can not sit down quietly to read and think. That seems hopelessly dull to them. They must have some form of novel experience all the time, to keep them satisfied. After they have enjoyed a certain number of automobile rides and moving pictures and theatrical shows, they demand some more spicy entertain ment that will stir their jaded senses. They are the people who want to read morbid sensations in the newspapers, and who seek similar subjects in the picture films and the spoken drama. The question comes up how we can calm this rest less love for excitement. After a person gets in that blase frame of mind, it is very difficult to accustom them to habits of patient industry, or interest them in the problems that at tract the attention of intelligent people. Every family can do something, however, by teaching its children to accustom themselves to faithful routine. Those who are faithful in their studies are not so apt to get these restless ways. Chil dren also need certain regular tasks by which they learn to Inickle down to work, and so that they Income interested in getting improved results out of their work.
