Knives made from files are often found hidden away in the prison under all wardens. That Is his tory. And as for knives and ropes, It Is recalled that Harry T.racy and David Merrill had rifles hid den (n the prison. Once before the roof was reach ed In the same way by the same n who got away Wednesday. Farm House Visited. RALEM". Ore., Aug. 14. Those In charge of the man hunt for Tom Murray, Kllsworth Kelly and .lames WIPos, escaped convicts. this morning said that theye were reassured that the fugitives are still In the Prat u m neighborhood by the report telephoned to the prison that the Mcllhenv farm house. 7 miles south of Hilverton. was pillaged during the night. Mrs. MWtheny reported that late In the night she and her husband heard someone enter the house. She Java that they lay still In bed, and that the prowlers wandered over almost the entire house for nearly half an hour, but did not enter the bedroam. Nothing was taken, perhaps, a little food the woman said. Mrs. Mcllheny said she could not tell how many men were in the house, but that they made a lot of noises and apparently did not care whether anyone heard them or not. Waiting for a time after the men left the farm house, Ilyron McKI heny notified the warden's office at the penitentiary and guards went to the place to investigate. About ha f an hour later. Oregon nntlonal guardsmen In the posse from Hilverton saw the flash of a light for an Instant moving down Heaver Creek canyon, one-half mile from Wllliird. as If some one had lighted a match. They could tell there was at hast one man, and probably two. The guardsmen opened fire with their rlfes, but the suspects es caped. The various posses this morning were closely guarding an nn-a of country the boundary of which covers about twenty miles and takes In WHIanl, Sublimity (11 mlbs south of Kilverton) Shaw thence back to Wlllnrd.
