April 8 The raujdly growing popularity of the dollar bill has become a problem to treasury officials. The gov ernment is faced with the neces sity of either greatly expanding the capacity of its printing plant to meet the public demand for cir culation of the unit of paper cur rency, or inducing the public to be more economical in Ha use. Just why there is a demand for the dollar bill that its circulation has increased more than seven times -since 1900 and exactly three time since 1910 is a puzzle which officials have started out to solve. They hope by the study to secure means of obtaining more sparing use of it.
