II i i in MM VIOLET DARE XXI " LOVE YOU!" T WAS gorgeous whon wo got to the Cape; wo stayed in a tiny I little town, and before we did any work at all we spent one long. glorious , day out o n the rocks at the ocean's edsc, finding Just the .right place and re hearsing what we were to do. Mr Sew ard went over every bit of my part with me, and truly the way he'd worked It out was wonderful. Then the second day we began to work. Mr?. Phlpps was In one or two scenes. but the others ever so many of them were between Just Reward and me. He and Mr. llaynes i thought It best to take a lot of extra poses, dozen more than they could 1 possibly use, and then they'd cut I out all but the very best ones, of j course. We had done all of them and 1 were finishing the Inst few, the I third day we were up there, when the thing happened that howled me over completely. It's rut her hard for me to tell it, because it was so very Intimate and personal yet, after all, you who rend this story of part of my life will never know me, and, having; told so much, 1 mlpht as well tell the rent. At the very end of the picture, John Seward was to take me In his arms and kiss me. He'd dVme the same thing earlier In the plctnre, but he'd Just fnked the kiss, and that was all. Hut that afternoon, when the air was like wine, and the sun and wind and dashing waves seemed to have got right Into my Mood. h swept me up in his arms, held me close to him aa Instant, and then kissed me on the lips again and again. Mrs. Phlpps wasn't there, and somehow, the film caught in the camera at the very end. so that the camera man had to give It his at tention. I w as glud of that. I know that my face must have been bias ing. I heard Mr. Huynes say, "Kather hot stuff, John!" as John Seward let me go, but I rushed away down a little path in the rocks; we'd planned to leave that I ant there trying to pet hold of myself. evening, and I'd told them that I had to pack, so when I thought about It afterward I realized that Mr. Haynes would think thut was why Trt hurried away. I didn't go bacK to the hotel. though I didn't cure whether 1 ever packed my clothes and went back to New 'ork or not. I could only think of one thing the way John 8evard had klised me. And dhln't want to think of ttfnt. There was a little nook in the rocks, off by Itself, where you could'' sit and look Ptrafcht out to sea: X clambered up to that and Just sat very still, trying to get hold of my self, but somehow I couldn't. I found myself cry in crying hard. too, though I didn't exactly know why. And then somebody scram bled up the rocks, and I felt John Seward's hand on mine and heard him say; "Don't cry. deai didn't you know that I loved you?"
