We had done all of them and
1 were finishing the Inst few, the
I third day we were up there, when
the thing happened that howled me
over completely. It's rut her hard
for me to tell it, because it was so
very Intimate and personal yet,
after all, you who rend this story
of part of my life will never know
me, and, having; told so much, 1

John Seward was to take me In his
arms and kiss me. He'd dVme the

DIS1 LAST NIGHT
Another excellent booster meeting
was held last night, this time be
tween the business men of Elkton,
Yoncalla and Drain. The meeting
waa held at the Perkins Hotel in
Drain, where a delightful banquet was
served preceding the business ses
sion. As has been the rase in all of
the previous meetings, the men pres
ent were well pleased with the plans
for boosting ltougja County, and
were enthusiastic over the outlook as
presented by the various speakers. All
present entered into the spirit of the
occasion with a whole-hcarteduess
which speaks well for the future of
the communities represented, ' Jake
Allen of the State Chamber of Com.
nierce made another of his fine ad
dresses, and Will E. Holbein, secre
tary of the Koseburg Chamber ot
Commerce also addressed the meet
ing. There were many other talks
given.
Mr. Holbein and Mr. Allen left
Drain this morning for Iteedsport
wheie a meetlug of the residents of
the lower Umpqua district will be
held tonight.

terviewing the business men today
relative to the luncheon to be given
the State tirauge caravan at the
Greens school house south of this city
Wednesday noon, June 18th. Some
time ago representatives of the local
Granges called on the Chamber of
Commerce, for Cooperation in making
this luncheon a success, and the
above committee waa appointed' to
look after the details. It is hoped
that a large number of our business
and professional men will attend this
luncheon and meet these strangers
and make them welcome to the Ump
qua Valley. It is expected that a
large number ot farmers will attend
the luncheon.
