For the benefit of these persons a Ke icv representative today visit ed a prominent Itoseburg attorney and ascertained that Mr. Stewart is acting clearly within the law. The FnipiiUH Kiver at Hie point of the swimming hole is not a navigable stream, and consequently the lease on the land acquired by Mr. Sicwart extends lo the center of the stream. Mr, Stewart not only has a right to charge persons who enter tile rive! over his land, but he ceroid go fur tber if he desired anil refuse to ad mit them to bis premises altogether. The attorneys nu contend that Mr Stewart could b-gally rt-fusi; to allow- persons to bathe in the river abutting hla properly unless they re mained at a point beyond the middle of the stream. Itoseburg attorneys say this point of law is well defined, and Mr. Stew art is acting within his rights when tie charges admission lo his land ot the river abutting his proptrty. I L S.
