The Red Cross teams bring in good reports from the canvass for funds thus far, iu some instances meeting with much, better results than an ticipated, but over against these good reports they also are compelled t o report certain selfish individuals, who lack the needful spirit of pa triotism, or arc so inhuman that they care not what becomes of the soldier and sailor boys who go from our homes to light for our country in this her hour of peril. DouglaB County will be compelled to send to Washington a list of "slackers," and most of the names handed in thus far are men of plenty of wealth, so that they would he making no sacri fice. even should they subscribe hundreds of dollars each.
