who lack the needful spirit of pa

care not what becomes of the soldier
and sailor boys who go from our
homes to light for our country in

Washington a list of "slackers," and
most of the names handed in thus
far are men of plenty of wealth, so

A company has been organized to
build ships at Reedsport, on the

built at Gardiner, in early days, but

shipbuilding on the Umpqua.

and Mrs. G. Westerdnle, accompanied

Sunday morning, where the ladles
