While the Pasmore Trio, that noted group of Americau musicians who are to appear at the Presbyterian church on Thursday night. March ''. was in Sun Francisco, a special con cert was arranged for them in the mammoth Creek . amphitheatre, lo cated on the campus of the Pniver sity of California. This is the theatre in which such celebrities as Sara Hernhardt. Maud Adams, Hnr oldl and Dr. Ludwlg Wullner have appealed. Telling of their concert there. Walter Anthony, critic of the San Francisco Call, said: "A splendid audience, as enthusi astic as it was large, greeted three young ladies, who usk no condescen sion for their set aud plead no for bearance for their years. They Just play. "Miss Dorothy played the Satnt- Saens A-minor concerto. Her read ing of the difficult number was schol arly and sure, her intonation correct aud her left hand firm and unfailing. Particularly appealing was her tone in the allegretto movement, which sho repeatt-d for an encore. From the first short dissouantal chords .o tho finale, she was mistress of the situation and played with emotional fervor and academic accuracy. Her sister. Miss Mary, presented j Lato's Spanish symphony, op. 21,! with Its familiar 'Hondo' allegro j finale. The essence of her presenta-j tion was delicacy and purity. It Is difficult to guage tone size In the Crock Theatre. The distance separ ating player from auditor is so great that reasonable breadth of tone is surprising; you do not expect so much volume. Her tone was broad full and of an alluring Bweetness and beauty. She plays from the heart. A delicious bit was her lu terpretation of Kreissler's favorite song piece. Dvorak s "Humoresque. which, even with the giant's rendl tfon still in our ears, was done with rare charm and expressiveness. C.reat interest Is being taken in the coming of the Pasmore Trio to this city, aud an Immense aumence win giet them.
