Ashland TldingB: Taylor Murphy, the Southern Pacific brakeman, who fell off the caboose of a moving train while changing flags near Sims, Cul., last Monday morning, and received most serious injuries, died at the hos pital at Sacramento, Dec. 22. Fred Dodge, the S. P. brakeman, who was struck several weeks ago by the covered S. P. railroad bridge south of Ashland, which a few days before cost Brakeman Carl Will hiB life, was taken to the railroad hospital at Sacramento today, his condition growing out of the Injuries to his spine which he received In the acci dent, having become quite serious within the past week. Paving Company, of Portland, appeared before the coun cil last night and spoke at length re garding the Hasan m pavement, which is a combination of stone and cement and forms of sort of concrete. He states the pavement Is placed In Port land for 11.65 a square yard for a four-Inch pavement and for (2 sauare yard for six-Inch pavement. The councllmen seemed to be quite Impressed by his talk. A dispatch from Medford gives the following details of Ka usher's case: No tidings have been received ns ot of L. W. Fa tinner, who myster iously disappeared from his home In Medford on Monday, November 30. Mr. Fansher was lant seen going south between Medford and Phoenix. The report that he had been seen In he woods near Talent and that he an like a mad man from his pursu ers is false, as well as other reportB his having been seen. Mr. Fan ner was local salesman for the Ore gon Nursery Company, at Salem, and had done a large business. A large shipment was here for delivery when he disappeared.
