She resolved to search for him and bring him home. Two months have passed. Mrs. Ar dcu has left no stone unturned to find her son, but to no avail. Bhe fears she will be unsuccessful. Perhaps years may elapse before any account of him muy be obtained. She Is pac ing the room nervously when Mr. Ity mer, her lawyer, Is announced. One gluuce Is sufficient She steps forward, exclaiming, "You have good news?" "Yes," replied Mr. Rymer; "I have seen your son, but did not make my prose nee known. He lives ln Q. and Is employed by Wright & Carter as bookkeeper. I obtained my informa tion from Mr. Wright, confiding the story to hi in, knowing you will want him to come home with you. He Is glad for Mr. Anion's sake, but sorry to lose such au earnest worker. I also called on Mrs. Arden, but as a book agent, and I admire his taste. While their home Is not luxurious, everything Is cosy, and I am sure she Is an excel lent wife." "Oh, I am so gladl Mr. Rymer, If 1 start immediately I could reach the house before Jack, tell bis wife who I am and surprise him when he comes to supier, could I not? "Yea; there Is a train at noon. That Is nn excellent plan. Yon will call to night Jack will be pleased to see you, aud" "I should like to see him. Yes, I shall call. Cioodbyt" Evening of the same day. Mrs, At dou has been at her son's home two hours, long enough for ber to agree with Mr. Kymer by admiring his selec tion of a wife. Today Guadalupe day fully 100,000 people thronged the streets of Guadalupe Hidalgo, paying tribute to America's holiest shrine and wor shipping Nuestra Senora de Guada lupe, the patron saint of Mexico. Here ln the city the day was gen erally observed as a holiday, the business streets being deserted save for the people leaving for the celebra tion at Guadalupe. "Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe" dates back to 1631, ten years after the conquest of Mexico by the Span iards, when, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary appeared to an In dian on the spot where the church now stands and made known to him that she wanted an edifice erected to her honor there.
