Under tbe terms of Oregon's new corrupt practices act. pawed by tbe people Id June, the presidential elec tion November I will be just a plain election, without any frills nothing but tbe polls, the election board and ' tbe voters. The time-honored gaunt let of political workers banding out cards, which tbe voter has alwayi bad to run, Is now Illegal. Tbe reluctant voter who has wait ed for his party enthuslaata to bunt him out and takl hlin to the polls In a carriage or hack, must walk, pay car faro or stay away. No person Is permitted to use any effort at the polls or away from them, on election day, to Influence the vote of any one. Home sections of tbe corrupt prac tices act relating to election day fol low: "It shall be unlawful for any per son to pay another for any loss or , damage due to attendance at the polls, or In reglHteringi or for the expense of transportation to or from the polls. "No person shall pay for personal service to bo performed on tbe day or any election, for any purpose con nected therewith, except for tbe hir ing of persons whose sole duty Is to ' act as challengers, and auh tbe count of o flic 1 ill ballots. "No person shall buy. sell, give or provide any political badge, but ton or other insignia to be worn at or about the polls on tbe day of any election, and no such political badge, button or other insignia shall be worn at or about the poll on any election day. "It shall be unlawful for any per son at any place on the day of any election to attk, solicit or In any man ner try to Induce or persuade any voter on such election day to vole fot or refrain from voting for any candi dates or tbe candidates or ticket of any political party or organization." The last section above quoted would prohibit the banners, hereto fore common, bearing the legend "Vote the Htralght Republican Tick et." In fact, this section prohlhlu all political activities on election day which would lu any manner tend ti Influence a voter aa to how he should vote. Kx. INIVKIIHITY MKN FOIl I1KYAN.
