HERE IS A LIFE INCOME OWN A ROSEBURG HOME-ORCHARD TRACT ON THE UMPQUA RIVER TEN ACRES OK THIH RICH KIVKIl IIOTTOM LAND, IS TIIK CENTER OK OREGON'S FAMOI S FltL'IT HKIr, WIIjIj MAKE YOU INDEI'KN DENT FOI I.IFK. Our plan of development Willi smalt fruit ami vegetables, while llio fruit trees are reaching a bearing age. meanB that your Income begins at once an Income nuxt year equal' to the cunt of the tract, and only a very small Investment necessary. Delightful climate, richest soil, schools, churches, social lire, and a good Income, all combined. You can work eight months aud then Indulge your desire to travel, or rest, or spend the re- -malnder of the year as you wish. No man controls your every hour, nor limits your Income; and no financial panics can have any terrors for you when you are reaping the harvest of the soil. The fruitgrower of Oregon Ib a man that is absolutely independent, llo knows that a 10-acre orchard, when properly cared for, will bring him a certain Income of $".00 a year. Do you want to get In tills class? Our tracts are all cleared, ready to plant; no stumps to pull, no preliminary work, no Irriga tion necessary, and you cun make each tract pay for Itself. We want you to meet the man who bought a half Interest In a 20-ncre orchard near our tracts . last year for $27110 built a dryer costing $li() bought a team for $300 paid a Koseburg bank 8 per cent Interest on the money to do It with, aud within the year cancelled his debt at the bank of over $4000, and had a neat bulunce left this profit was one-hulf of the umount cleared on the tract. TIIIH OPPORTUNITY IS YOl'HH CO.MIi IX AND MOT IS ID I. NT TIIK WAY If you are not ready to live upou a tract of this-land, we will raise strawberries, raspberries, currants, cautaloupes, melons, potatoes, onions, asparagus, celery, etc., on your tract, put up the money for seed and labor, market the produce, and at the end of the seasou pay you one-half the net profits.. If we didn't absolutely know that this proposition would pay us, we wouldn't put our money in it, and you are going to make a dollar everytinie we do. We can put small fruits and vegetables on the market two weeks earlier than any other section iu Oregon, AND WE ARE GOING TO DO IT NEXT YEAR. We have an orchardist and fanner of 20 years' experience who will superintend this work, aud a member of this firm will give his personal attention to the property. The soil is of great depth, aud development between the rows does not affect the prosperity of the trees. Experiment has shown this to be true. One-half the profits of this de velopment plan will pay you for your tract in two years, set it to orchard aud put money in the bank for you, You will then have an orchard tract worth, in the open market, twice the purchase price. We are NOT GUESSING at what we can do here, but this plan is the result of careful study extending over a period of many months. If you want to join this successful fruitgrowing plan, come in and talk it over with us before this tract is sold. Do it now. Price $150 Per Acre Terms $150 cash, balance $25 a month. Our development plan will take care of the payments after next Spring, when the crop is marketed. HARDING & ENGEN, Owners P! D RpjiIp SPECIAL J. IJ. DCdie REPRESENTATIVE Cass and Sheridan Sts. Roseburg, Oregon uLAlIKSu UtiFKAT KOCAlJl. LuUlcruutt Hall Gttnie ut ltue Park Results 5 tu 4. A miscellaneous assortment of baseball players, consisting of five men, one attired In skirts, and four females, travelling about the coun try under the name of the "Chicago Ladles' Baseball Club," defeated a team of nine local gallants In an amusing Imitation of the national game at Rose Park last Sunday. The score was 5 to 4. A large crowd looked on In glee, and Dr. K. H. Vln clle presided at the decision counter. Had they played In earnest the first part of the game, the locals would probably have won, but In the last Inning, with the "ladies" one run ahead, they did their mightiest to pull out, aud failed. Of the male element of the visit ors, one was the pitcher and he was about the whole thing. He struck out nineteen batsmen and allowed eight scattered blngles, two of which were doubles by Staley. One of these drove In Hoseburg's last and only earned run In the sixth inning. Koseburg's other three runs were presented to them by wild throws. In the second inning two bum heaves by the catcher (also male sex, one to second and the other to third, a lowed as many locals to cross the plate. In the fifth Inning another be ing of the masculine gender station ed at third sack nearly threw over the center field fence In an effort to pull oh a double at second and an other man came home. The first two Roseburg hopefuls at bat in the ninth reached bases, one ultimately getting to third, the other to second The lone hit needed right then and there to win the game, however, did not come; the next three men fanned out In quick time, and the crowd went home laughing. Pee Mathews began the pitching stunt for Roseburg. Had he been hard-hearted and twirled his best when the charming creatures posed appealiugly in the batter's box he would doubtlessly have had things all his own way. But he got top liberal with his offerings, and after allowing three runs in the fourth chapter he was waved aside. Mit chell did the twirling from that time on. He goose-egged the tourists un- til the ninth, when they filled the bases. Hatter No. 4 fanned. The next batter hit square into Mitchell's hands. He threw quickly to Hanan at home retiring the runner coming from third, but Hanan, In trying to complete a double, Btung the lady running to first in the spinal column with a tierce throw, allowing Pitcher Myers to speed home with the win nliig tally.
