A number of patriotic songs were sung by the Canyonvllle choir, ind were well rendered. lion. Wm. Colvlg, of Medford delivered the oration. Mr. Colvlg 'laving lived his boyhood days here. fold many reminiscences ol his early life, aud gave a splendid address, which was listened to by hundreds of patriotic people. Dinner followed the oration. This needs no describing if ever one has mten with the generous housewives f Umpqua and Cow creek valleys, At shortly after one o'clock began a closely contested game of baseball between Canyonvllle and Riddle nines. Riddle was victorious, carry ing home the $20 offered as the prize. Riddle rooters made things noisy by shouting: "Strawberry Short Cake, Huckle Berry Pie, V-l-c t-o-r-y!" The young men's race was won by John Cornutt, of Riddle. The boys' race by one of the band boys from Roseburg. The little girls' race by Miss IMckett, of Canyonvllle. and the horse race by George Elllff's son, of Glendale. Altogether. Canyonvllle gave every one a good day, and wo all returned home In the evening twilight, well burned with the sun's rays, well sup plied with pluk lemonade and Ice cream and hoping Cunyouville will give another celebration some day.
