Junction City, Ore., Feb. 18, 1905. Enrroit Rkvirvy: Perhaps the most brilliant social event of the season In form of a reception was given at the home of Col. F. W. Folsom on Satur day, "Feb. II, 11105, In honor of Mr. aod Mrs. Harvey Warner, who will leave soon for San Diego, Calif,, to make their future home. Tho hostesses wore Meedames A. M. Lee, Mark Montgomery, N. They were received at the door by little Miss Graco Gilmore, who was fairy-llko In while. The decorations were entwined with California popples, representing tho stato to be future homo of the guests of honor. The guests were ushored to thu dress ing room, by Miss Camitle Taylor, dear old state left behind. The after noon was spent with games and music, tho most pleasing being a doll dressing contest at which Mrs. Arminta Kaiser won the handsome prize. Dainty re freshments were served. "Auld Lang Syne" was sung 'by the guests before departing, wishing the guests health, happiness and prosperity in their new home. At 8:30 p. m. the same home was thrown open by these courteous ladles to more than 20 guests, both ladies and gentlemen, in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Warner. The evening was pleasantly spent with games, music and recita tions. Deserving special mention was the instrumenal solos by Miss Dessle Linder, and Duet "Ye Merry Birds" by Mrs. .Mark Montgomery and Miss Folsom. Those receiving prizes are: Mes- daraes Moorehoodand Lee, Miss Star and Dr. Lee. Dainty refreshments were served at small tables, the beauti ful china and silver adding much to the beauty of the affair. "God be with you" was then sung. Mrs. Warner in behalf of her husband responded in her usual pleasing manner with a few well chosen remarks, bidding farewell to their many friends in Oregon. Those present: Mr. and Mrs. Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Rann, Mr. and Mrs. Mont gomery, Mr. and Mrs. Warner, M r. and Mrs. Moorhead. Merlames S. L. The special committee appointed to inves tigate bribery charges against Sena tors Emmons, Bunkers, Wright and French recommends that they be ex pelled from the Senate. The Senators mentioned were hc cused of demanding and accepting a bribe for protecting certain building and loan associations from 'investiga tion by the Legislative committee on retrenchment and reform, of which they were members. A trap was set for them. Marked bills were given to a go-between, who was seen to pass the money to them. Each Senator re ceived $350. They have been in dicted by the Sacramento County Grand Jury. It Is the general impression that the report of the committee will be adopt ed, and the accused Senators expelled, as sentiment in favor of that action is very pronounced among the members of the body. Land Fraud Trials in June. Washington, Feb. 20. District At torney Heney said today that the Mitchell-Hermann-Williamson land fraud cases will probably not be tried before June. He talked the matter over with Judge Bellinger at Portland, and the Judge thought April a bad month to get a jury. The court ex pects to move back into its own quarters in May, and does not want the trials on while moving. Furthermore, there will be further investigation by the grand jury In April, which might in terfere with the trials in court. These investigations will be concluded before June. f raud Exposed.
