T he CHEMAWA AMERICAN STUDENT ITEMS Andrew Hatfield was here on a visit recently. George Cummings is back to continue his school work. A letter from Peter Paquette, former student, informs a friend that he is enjoying life in the army air corps at Riverside, Cal. We have been informed that Carl Whitman, a grad uate of ’33, has assembled and is conducting an orches tra in his home town, Elbowoods, N. D. Luck and power to you, Carl. Homer Settler and Vernon Jackson are studying a new trade for the soph Christmas play. They are becoming familiar with “baa-baa” so as to better fit into the roles of sheepherders. Mr. Hall, Louis Youpee .and Sam Shoulderblade were guests of the student chefs in the Altamot .last Monday. They enjoyed a fine meal and were high in praise of George Vanderburg’s cream of tomato soup. The plumbers have moved to their new shop and installed a little plumbing of their own in the way of radiators, etc. Mr. Matt made the star that was used in the pageant and Mr. Kunkel and the boys put in some time on the halos. The tailors are having plenty of work. Among the customers are Willie Spottedeagle and Ed Franklin, who are having suits made. A terrible accident befell our old college chum, Roy Meachem. But he was rescued by a work-mate and is now happy and smiling again. He thinks his rescuer deserves a medal. The junior boys in McNary regretted the absence of Urban “Steamboat” Brunoe who was recently laved up in the hospital with a cold. We have high hopes for good entertainment from the lads of our hall on Christmas day. We are all looking forward to that pop corn feed to be given at the end of the month by Mrs. Cornick for the “A” rooms. The senior commercial class is making plans for an old fashioned country school Christmas program to be given Friday afternoon, Dec. 22, within their own four walls. Each member of the class will be respons ible for a part of the program. We shall sing Christ mas songs, have a Christmas tree—and maybe Santa Claus will visit us if we are real good.
