    T he CHEMAWA AMERICAN
STUDENT ITEMS
Andrew Hatfield was here on a visit recently.
George Cummings is back to continue his school
work.
A letter from Peter Paquette, former student, informs
a friend that he is enjoying life in the army air corps
at Riverside, Cal.
We have been informed that Carl Whitman, a grad
uate of ’33, has assembled and is conducting an orches
tra in his home town, Elbowoods, N. D. Luck and
power to you, Carl.
Homer Settler and Vernon Jackson are studying
a new trade for the soph Christmas play. They are
becoming familiar with “baa-baa” so as to better fit
into the roles of sheepherders.
Mr. Hall, Louis Youpee .and Sam Shoulderblade
were guests of the student chefs in the Altamot .last
Monday. They enjoyed a fine meal and were high
in praise of George Vanderburg’s cream of tomato
soup.
The plumbers have moved to their new shop and
installed a little plumbing of their own in the way of
radiators, etc. Mr. Matt made the star that was used
in the pageant and Mr. Kunkel and the boys put in
some time on the halos.
The tailors are having plenty of work. Among the
customers are Willie Spottedeagle and Ed Franklin,
who are having suits made. A terrible accident befell
our old college chum, Roy Meachem. But he was
rescued by a work-mate and is now happy and smiling
again. He thinks his rescuer deserves a medal.
The junior boys in McNary regretted the absence
of Urban “Steamboat” Brunoe who was recently laved
up in the hospital with a cold. We have high hopes
for good entertainment from the lads of our hall on
Christmas day. We are all looking forward to that
pop corn feed to be given at the end of the month by
Mrs. Cornick for the “A” rooms.
The senior commercial class is making plans for an
old fashioned country school Christmas program to be
given Friday afternoon, Dec. 22, within their own
four walls. Each member of the class will be respons
ible for a part of the program. We shall sing Christ
mas songs, have a Christmas tree—and maybe Santa
Claus will visit us if we are real good.
A CHRISTMAS WISH
When Santa Claus on Christmas eve,
Goes up the sooty flue,
May your stockings be as full of gifts
As they usually are of you.
